I recently tested the innovative shopping experience from NakedPoppy, a new clean beauty online shop that utilizes technology to provide personalized beauty and skincare product recommendations. (Read my previous blog post.) NakedPoppy not only offers well-known clean beauty and skincare brands, but also includes their own line of natural, organic products that are up-to-par with others out there.
On top of my usual expectations and requirements for any green beauty products I review, I was a bit dubious about these. It is quite difficult to manage and operate a good online shop, while also separately developing a high-quality brand of skincare and beauty products at the same time. Suffice to say, I was quickly impressed by everything I tried.
To my delight, NakedPoppy products feature high quality, vegan, cruelty-free, natural and organic ingredients that perform extremely well.
Cream cleansers are among my favorite types of skincare products because they are gentle and effective on dry, sensitive skin, yet also work well to hydrate and treat skin. The Nourish Cream Cleanser is rich without feeling heavy, buttery soft, and effectively cleanses and deeply nourishes skin. This does not dry out your skin once washed away, it replenishes moisture and leaves behind a supple protective barrier on the skin for lasting hydration. My skin always feels so supple, soothed, and glowing after every use. It also washes away makeup like a dream.
When I first tested out this product, I was immediately reminded of my all-time favorite cream cleanser from Pai, in terms of texture and in formulation. The Nourish Cream Cleanser includes ingredients that work well for my skin and specifically nourish, protect, and replenish skin. Key ingredients like Camellia Sinensis Leaf extract, Baobab extract, Safflower seed oil, Buriti oil, and more are familiar favorites that really stand out in this product.
This cream cleanser outperforms so many other cleansers I have tried recently. In addition, the insanely affordable price and large full size volume means I’m absolutely planning to purchase another one once I run out! $28 for 3.4 oz, NakedPoppy
The Revitalize Organic Facial Oil is a high quality, antioxidant-rich facial oil that instantly nourishes and smoothes skin. It’s a weightier facial oil, but easily glides onto skin and sinks in immediately. For me, this oil is a standout evening face product because it is deeply hydrating and nourishing, and allows my skin to feel supple and refreshed especially when worn overnight. This product provides dewiness, and a little truly goes a long way for hydrated, even, and glowing skin.
I love how smooth and nourished this leaves my skin, as well as treats and clears any irritations. The ingredients are simple yet so high-quality, the formula performs extremely well even upon first application. NakedPoppy also boasts their facial oil includes the “highest-quality rosehip seed oil,” an ingredient that is considered a natural alternative to retinol, known to reduce wrinkles and hyperpigmentation. This isn’t too surprising to me after having used this product for a while now and always feeling so impressed at how youthful and healthy my skin looks and feels after every use.
This facial oil can be used both during the day and in the evening, yet my preference is to apply it at night as it feels a bit more substantial for my normal daytime skin routine. If my skin needs an added boost of hydration, I do like to add a teeny bit to my daily moisturizer. Either way, it’s a wonderful face product that would work well for most skin types and provides amazing, long lasting results in a short amount of time. $42 for 1oz, NakedPoppy
This liquid eyeliner is NakedPoppy’s sole makeup product as of now. Nowadays, liquid eyeliner isn’t something I’d wear on a normal basis, but I was intrigued to try this product out especially with claims that it is melt-proof and fade-proof. It is also ophthalmologically tested for sensitive eyes and is EWG Verified and Certified Cruelty-Free by Leaping Bunny.
The packaging features a uniquely slim, ultra-fine felt tip that is gentle on the skin yet provides seamless and precise lining. As someone who has a hard time drawing on liquid eyeliner, this smooth yet flexible fine tip makes it a whole lot easier, and perfect for achieving that precise flick for a sharp cat eye. This eyeliner also applies extremely smooth, even lines—there’s no hint of skipping or uneven amount of product.
This jet black liner definitely lasts quite well, though after a couple hours the pigmentation seems to fade slightly. I tried this eyeliner with and without eyeshadow, and noticed that with some sort of base makeup, the eyeliner faded less on my eyelids.
I do have super oily lids, but I was still quite impressed with the overall staying power and pigmentation of this liquid eyeliner. The claims are quite true: this liner doesn’t budge, yet washes off easily. It dries down quickly and locks into place, yet is very gentle on skin.
Overall, I did not notice any smudging, creasing, flaking, or transfer (no sign of dreaded “racoon eyes”) even after rubbing my eyelids or blinking hard (those with hooded lids will understand). I still had eyeliner on my lids after 8 hours. That’s pretty amazing and a rarity in my book! $22, NakedPoppy
