Summer Ready Skin With One Love Organics’ Summer Skin Collection

Apple A Day Brightening Facial Cleanser ($29, 5 fl oz)- I’ve never been interested in trying out foaming facial cleansers as I usually find they don’t do much for my skin and actually make my skin feel drier. I also always viewed foaming cleansers as a way for brands try to market products with the sole “fun” factor of making face-cleaning more exciting. Perhaps. However, the unique fruit ingredients in this new OLO cleanser intrigued me and I was fully convinced I needed to try it out.

The Apple A Day cleanser combines cold-pressed apple oil, apple fruit extracts and gentle, natural acids, which OLO claims formulates a perfectly balanced pH formula that will clarify, cleanse and tone the skin. Contrary to my initial thoughts, this cleanser was a joy to use. The light, nourishing formula and foaming texture is the ultimate skin refresher especially on hot, humid days when your skin needs an extra boost. Not only did my face feel refreshed after using the cleanser, it felt very clean and more balanced overall. I can definitely feel and see my skin clearing up since using this cleanser and my face never feels irritated or more dry after using it. This cleanser smells deliciously fruity (thanks to those apple ingredients!) and the foam formula lathers soft and gentle to the skin. I will say, I don’t think I’d grab for this cleanser over my cleansing oils (my favorite OLO cleanser HERE) or cream cleansers (sorry, just my dry skin’s preference), but perhaps for those who have oilier skin or are more prone to sweating in the facial area, you will definitely want to try this effective, clarifying cleanser for the summer.

Pretty Pores Complexion Toning Mist ($28, 2 fl oz)- Another product that will make your skin go “ahhh!”, the Pretty Pores Complexion Toning Mist is a wonderful complement to the Apple A Day cleanser. This mist is very refreshing to spray on cleansed skin and I often find myself addicted to spritzing my face multiple times during the day (and sniffing the pleasant, light grapefruit scent). This product also utilizes 100% pure fruit water extracted from pink grapefruits, which purifies and energizes skin, is a natural astringent, and includes powerful antioxidant Vitamin C to keep skin glowing. So resourceful, right? It is also impressive that this toning mist only has 3 ingredients, relying on the naturally purifying effects of grapefruit water.

This pure fruit water is extracted from fresh organic grapefruit using an advanced flash distillation technique. It infuses the skin with valuable plant nutrients such as bioavailable vitamins, antioxidants, trace elements and mineral salts found naturally in the fruit. With a natural pH of 4.9, Pretty Pores Complexion Toning Mist is perfect for spritzing the skin post-cleansing to help skin return to its natural acidic state and to infuse the skin with nutrients before moisture application. 

I loved the cooling sensation on my face and could noticeably see my skin become less red and irritated. The combination of using this collection’s foaming cleanser and toning mist has improved my overall complexion, keeping my face looking healthy and glowing. Gardenia Daily Body Serum ($39, 3.8 oz)- My favorite product of the collection, this body serum is an absolute necessity! I love using body oils for the summer because when it’s hot and humid out, they’re lighter to apply on my dry skin but provide enough hydration as the heavier creams I tend to use in the winter. The Gardenia Daily Body Serum pleasantly sinks into the skin and gently nourishes all over. Using this serum keeps me moisturized all day and night without making me feel greasy or irritated.

The scent of gardenia blossoms is one of my weaknesses. To me, this serum’s beautiful floral fragrance evokes summer sunshine and happiness. I cannot get enough of it! The spray bottle top makes it very easy and convenient to spritz this light, nourishing serum all over. I wish there were more product in the bottle but until then, I’m savoring this serum throughout summer! Healthy Locks Dry Shampoo ($12, 0.8 oz)- (Sample size, not pictured) Summer humidity can do crazy things to our hair. Having a regular hair cleansing routine in the summer is just as important for the longevity of your locks as it is for its health. A dry shampoo can be a helpful quick-fix for misbehaving hair during the humid months. I haven’t had much luck with dry shampoos, probably because my hair is so fine, oily-prone, and all-around finicky. I erred on the cautious side when deciding to try this new dry shampoo and luckily, was able to receive a generous sample thanks to Integrity Botanicals’ free sample program. (You need to shop here! I took this dry shampoo with me while traveling and was really pleased with how well my fussy hair responded. Normally, dry shampoo causes my hair to feel brittle, rough, and left with a gummy texture. From the first use, OLO’s Healthy Locks didn’t suck out the moisture or texture of my hair, in fact it amazingly gave me more volume and soft, healthy texture. This is the only dry shampoo that honestly made me feel happy with my non-shampooed hair! I credit the gentle, beneficial, natural ingredients featured in this dry shampoo such as Georgia kaolin clay, hyularonic acid, and silica rich bamboo extract which naturally absorb oils and strengthen hair follicles. I feel these ingredients were effective in nourishing my locks rather than just controlling oil. This product helped maintain the cleanliness of my hair and made my hair feel out-of-the-shower-fresh!
