It’s starting to be that busy time of the year and in the midst of all the chaos, I’ve been continually reminded to focus on family and my own well-being. I’ll be finishing up my graduate studies (for good!) right before Christmas this year and I’m so excited to spend time with my family and friends without the usual school distractions and stress looming over me. While I haven’t had much free time to update my blog as often as I’ve wanted, I’ve had time to reflect on personal priorities and values, and what’s changed so far.

This holiday season, I’m reminding myself to shop less but shop better, and to gift in this way too. Personally, I’ve moved from “stocking up” whenever I see sales or promotions just for the sake of the discount, and to only buy things if I truly need it, to invest in better quality things and ones that support missions or goals important to me, and to think about the lifetime of a product or item of clothing.
I like sharing green black friday deals because I think it’s a great time to encourage friends to purchase healthier, thoughtfully-made goods and products and usually, a promotion or discount helps with that initial step. I’ve found deals during this time of year also helps start that discussion with friends or family about why organic/natural or ethically-made products may cost more initially and why this is important.
