Scribbling Lipstick Love Letters with Axiology’s Lip Crayons

As if the beautifully designed, natural lipstick brand, Axiology could not get any cooler, they’ve launched a new collection consisting of natural Lip Crayons in a stunning variety of colors. Effortlessly chic on the lips and equally stunning to look at, the Axiology Lip Crayons are fun and unique products that have arrived just in time for effortless, spring/summer beauty looks.

Axiology Lip Crayons currently features a variety of six shades that are classic and neutral, and will surely look beautiful on any skintone. I was fortunate to be able to test out two Lip Crayons*, and to say the formula and colors were impressive is quite the understatement! The lip crayon design has been a popular beauty trend, but one that inspires minimal, understated routines and is fun, reminiscent of playing with colorful crayons or pastelsin art class.

Enchant is described as a “boysenberry…cool mauve with a tilt of silver,” and definitely my type of daily berry-mauve lip color. The silvery flecks of shimmer add a nice iridescence that makes this shade stand out from your average mauve lip product. I also like that this shade leans more towards a dark berry hue, a color that I’m a fan of but have not seen with any other natural lip products I own. I think this color seems a bit too dark on me for spring/summer, but I would love wearing this shade in the fall and winter.

Keen is the ultimate, bold yet wearable coral lip color, described as a ” baseline color of caramelized grapefruit and the highlight of translucent watermelon.” This cool-leaning, bright coral-pink is quite unique and will be my go-to color throughout this spring and summer. I already cannot stop wearing it and know this is going to be a lip shade I’ll be wearing to all the weddings I have coming up! For some reason, I found Keen to be more hydrating and less patchy in application than Enchant.

The Lip Crayon formulas are overall, surprisingly hydrating and long-lasting. Normally, it is rare that I find lip crayons that perform well and are moisturizing, so I was quite impressed with these products, especially with how pigmented these colors are. The Lip Crayons apply smoothly and pigment sinks into lips, creating a natural yet matte effect. Each shade’s minimal shimmer adds a pleasant, natural dimension so that the matte effect does not look dull or dry, nor feels drying. The unique shimmer flecks provide a beautifully unique look to the Lip Crayons, that is very evident when applied on the lips. After a couple hours, the texture of the product on lips feels a bit drier than during initial application, however never irritating or causing flaking.

Top to bottom: Enchant, Keen

I was able to get about 5 to 6 hours of wear out of these lip crayons, and they do leave behind a nice stain on the lips that was visible on my lips for the rest of the day. Thanks to this long-lasting stain, I can sometimes go without reapplying the product.

I love that Axiology has really honed in on a lip product formula that utilizes natural and organic ingredients, without sacrificing comfort or efficacy in color or performance. I’ll admit, I wasn’t too surprised after knowing how much I loved Axology’s original lipstick collection but it was pleasing to know this new addition of products follow suit.

Axiology’s lip crayon formula is crafted with deeply replenishing ingredients that keep lips hydrated, all day long. These heavy pigmented shades sweep the lips in a luxurious matte finish—and never lose their luster. With a buttery-soft texture and all-natural + organic ingredients, our lip crayon line is made for the sophisticated and kind lipstick connoisseur.”

The Axiology Lip Crayons, like their lipstick line, are housed in sturdy, gold and mirrored tubes and also packaged in the brand’s signature handmade, 100% recycled triangular paper boxes. (Read more about Axiology’s unique packaging here.) The Lip Crayons feature a sturdy cap and a twist-up bottom, making product easy to apply and compact to stash away. The twist-up function works seamlessly, although with 3.4 g of product, I still find I have more than enough product at the tip of the crayon without twisting for more. The packaging is lightweight, yet sturdy to use, though I do wish the mirrored exterior of the tube wasn’t so delicate, so prone to scratches and grimy fingerprints. Oh well, it’s a sacrifice I’m willing to make!
