Think With Deep Gratitude | Goodbeing Box November 2017

The Goodbeing box* I received for the month of November arrived right as I was packing to leave for Thanksgiving celebrations at my in-laws’ house. It had been a very busy month and the quote included in my Goodbeing box helped me step back for a moment, and I was reminded to be thankful to my loved ones who inspire and encourage me. From the French-German theologian, Albert Schweitzer: “At times our own light goes out and is rekindled by a spark from another person. Each of us has come to think with deep gratitude of those who have lighted the flame within us.”This was a nice quote to keep in mind and to start off the Thanksgiving holiday with. While there was a good mix of skincare, beauty, and wellness products in my November Goodbeing box, I couldn’t help but feel a bit underwhelmed by the products included.

KVoss MagiK Shimmer Body Lotion (full-size): I enjoy trying out new body lotion, but as soon as I saw this body lotion had SHIMMER in it, I was quite repelled. I really really do not like body products with shimmer or sparkles in it and this honestly had me a bit scared. The product in the jar seemed completely infused with shimmer and would definitely make my skin glow to some degree. However, I put my fears aside and tried this lotion out numerous times and it wasn’t as horrible as I thought. Minus the fact that my hands were slightly glittery for a couple of hours at a time (shudder), this body lotion was actually quite moisturizing, especially applying after a shower, and the shimmer wasn’t too annoyingly noticeable. I really did not like sticking my fingers into this jar to get out product either, I wished the packaging had included a pump top or been a squeeze bottle. However this product does leave a nice subtle glow on the skin while also keeping skin hydrated and soft. I was impressed but not sure I would go out of my way to purchase this, as a normal glitter-hater (sorry). The scent was also a bit too sweet and strong for my liking, but this could be a nice, natural way to add some festive shimmer to areas like your arms and décolleté for holiday events. (Value: $23)

Poethique Radiance Boosting Serum (deluxe sample size): I try out a lot of facial serums, so most of the time it takes something really unique and innovative to get me excited. I’ll be honest, I was initially not too interested in trying this serum out, however I was taken by surprise with how much I enjoyed it. Poethique is a Canadian skincare brand known for 100% plant-based products. I’d seen the brand on social media before, but never tried their products. The Radiance Boosting Serum has a unique texture, it feels creamier and silkier than most facial oils, and it absorbs instantly into skin. I really liked how this product feels on my dry skin. Not only does it seem to soothe irritations and hormonal acne, it keeps my skin hydrated and bright. I also love the fruity, light scent of this serum, it’s very calming and pleasant. I also like the lightweight yet nourishing properties of this serum, I can use it at night and feel comfortable using it during the daytime with a light moisturizer and sunscreen. I’m glad this serum was included this month! (Value: $27.50)

Everwell for Life Everbiotics (sample set of 5 sticks): I’m not much into powder supplements, because I don’t usually like how they taste (even if added in beverages) but I figured I’d give this supplement a try. Everbiotics is a prebiotic and probiotic blend that is fortified with superfoods and claims to support digestion, regulate gut health, increase satiety, promote cardiovascular health, fight aging, and supports metabolism. It is also non-GMO, vegan, gluten & soy free, allergen free, and made in the USA. The strawberry flavored powder comes in small stick (ADD SIZE HERE) packages, with one packet per day as the suggested consumption. Like I predicted, I wasn’t too good about mixing this in with my daily glasses of water or tea, and when I did try it with water, I hated the taste. It tasted super sweet and just not very appetizing to me. Thinking about more of the immediate benefits, I didn’t really notice much change in satiety nor digestion habits. If the flavor hadn’t been so strong, I might have stuck with trying out all of these packets, but I wasn’t very excited about these. (Sample value: $6.83)

MyChelle Lip Hints Conditioning Lip Balm in Nude (full-size): I selected this product as one that I’d wanted to receive in this month’s box since I have tried (and generally liked) MyChelle skincare products, yet was curious about the quality of MyChelle’s makeup products. This lip balm comes in a variety of colors and are positioned to be a moisturizing, hint-of-color products. Honestly, I was a bit underwhelmed. I did not find the balm to be very moisturizing at all and the color was barely noticeable. In fact, the formula seemed a bit watery whenever I applied it, and not very substantial in terms of protecting or hydrating my lips. I also really dislike lip balms in jars, and the packaging did not help this disappointing product. This could have been a great, affordable product for MyChelle to add to their collection, but unfortunately I think there are better tinted lip balms out there. (Value: $12.5)

Au Naturale Créme de la Creme Eye Shadow in Vintage (deluxe sample): This was the other product I chose to receive and I’m really pleased with it! I love cream eyeshadows for the ease in application and Au Naturale’s cream eyeshadow was everything I’d hoped. The color is a beautiful wearable shimmer brown, that is pleasantly buildable in pigment. Since it is a cream eyeshadow, it isn’t as long-lasting as a powder shadow, it did crease on my eyelids and doesn’t last the whole day. However, I do like how pigmented and buildable this product is and I don’t really mind touching it up thoughout the day. The full size product comes in a twist-up tube which I like the idea of better, as I just don’t love the jar packaging in terms of ease in application and toteability. However, this was a great product to receive! (Sample value: $18)

This was not my favorite Goodbeing box as I think I only fully enjoyed using the Poethique serum and Au Naturale eyeshadow, but it was interesting to learn about the brands and products in this box. Hopefully, the next box isn’t as much of a letdown.
