Just like that, it’s a new year! 2018 was a year of growth and transition for me, and I am hopeful and excited for all the possibilities that 2019 will bring. I’m looking forward to getting into a blogging groove again and planning for more content that I can be proud of. In honor of the new year, I’ve rounded up a few green beauty and skincare products I’d like to try in 2019:
Kosas Tinted Face Oil: While I don’t wear a full-face of foundation daily, I’m kind of a sucker for products that integrate skincare and face makeup. I like wearing makeup that doesn’t feel or look like it’s totally covering up my skin, but rather enhancing (or improving) it. The Kosas Tinted Face Oil has been raved about by many since it’s release, and is described as a lightweight, moisturizing product. I was able to test the foundations in person while I visited the Kosas pop-up shop in NYC, and I was very impressed but how smooth, blendable, and nourishing this product is. It truly feels like a facial oil and sinks into the skin nicely. Not to mention, the pigmentation was really standout. I’m waiting to use up some of my other facial products before I purchase a full-size of this, but it’ll definitely be my next purchase, especially with a ton of weddings and events I have coming up in 2019.
$42, Kosas. Also available at Credo Beauty, The Detox Market, Safe & Chic.
Ere Perez makeup: This minimalistic, cult-favorite Australian brand has been on my radar for awhile, but only recently has it been easier to find in shops serving the U.S. I’m curious about the Quinoa Water Foundation or the Oat Milk Foundation (unsure of which one would be better for my skin type), the Avocado Waterproof Mascara, and the Cheek & Lip Tints. I’m intrigued by the minimalistic and portable packaging, simple and natural ingredients, and the rave reviews. I love the brand’s innovative, yet true-to-clean formulas and while I’m always intrigued by new makeup products, Ere Perez’s skincare products look just as awesome. I’m lusting over everything!

Weleda Skin Food Lip Balm, Body Butter, and Light Nourishing Cream: UK skincare brand, Weleda is well-known for their bestselling, multi-use cream, Skin Food (first formulated in 1926). I’ve loved and used this product as many others have, specifically for dry hands and even for dry patches on my face. Now Weleda has taken their cult-favorite product to the next level and have created an entire collection based on the original Skin Food cream! There is a Skin Food Lip Butter, Body Butter, and Light Nourishing Cream version of the original Ultra-Rich Cream, all based on the beloved natural formula and including aromatic plant extracts of pansy, chamomile, and calendula. The other thing I love about Weleda products is that they are affordable, effective, and conveniently packaged for easy application and travel.
$6.99-$18.99, Weleda.
Mo Mi by Modern Minerals Hair Products: Ever since meeting Modern Minerals founder, Diane Read at Indie Beauty Expo a couple of years back, I’ve been following the brand and have enjoyed using MM products. I admire the brand’s inventive and pleasing integration of mineral makeup, flower and gemstone essences and their concept of “emotive beauty”. I’m excited about the brand’s Mo Mi hair collection, which includes 4 unique products that feature organic formulas and incorporate the brand’s signature gemstone and flower essences: a dry shampoo, hydrating mist, styling jelly, and texture mist. Cleaner hair products are something I’ve had more luck with in the past year, so I quite curious about how the Mo Mi hair products will work with my finicky hair.
$35-$55, Mo Mi by Modern Minerals. Also available at Integrity Botanicals.
Raw Elements Daily Lifestyle SPF 30: Am I weird for always thinking about sun protection when I think about starting off a new year? While I have a current favorite daily SPF product, I’m always on the lookout for new options. The Raw Elements Daily Lifestyle SPF 30 caught my eye because it’s the lightweight version of the brand’s popular formula (that was originally only available in a pot), and I like the looks of this updated formula in a pump-top bottle. I’ve only heard great things about Raw Elements sunscreen, whether it be for their certified all-natural ingredients, effective UVA-UVB broad spectrum protection, water-resistant formulas that are perfect for daily use or for active-wear, and gentle skin-benefitting properties. I could definitely see myself using this as an everyday SPF product, especially when I’m outdoors. Plus, the affordable price point is another great benefit. This is definitely what I’ll be testing next, after I use up my current SPF facial product.
$19.95, Raw Elements. Also available at The Detox Market, Integrity Botanicals.
Ellis Brooklyn perfumes: I’m always looking to explore healthier alternatives to perfumes and colognes, and I am very particular when it comes to scents. I’ve found a few natural fragrances that I love and I’ve noticed I tend to choose scents that are less musky, herbal-smelling, and more light, floral, and fresh. I totally fell for luxury eco-fragrance brand, Ellis Brooklyn’s scents after using their body lotion, and have tried some samples of their perfumes, which I also liked. I think I want to test out a few more samples to see which scent is my favorite, and I’m also intrigued by their “Hydraparfum” product, which sounds more like a fragranced body gel– it consists of “100% pure fragrance oil droplets suspended in a moisturizing hyaluronic acid water-based gel.” Ellis Brooklyn products are phthalates-free, paraben-free, cruelty-free, eco-friendly, use sustainable and recyclable packaging, and participate in carbon-neutral shipping.

Malaya Organics Advanced Repair Mask: It’s been a while since I’ve tried out a new face mask, and I think 2019 will be a good time to switch up my masking routine. As a brand I’ve recently reviewed and become a fan of, Malaya Organics just released their first facial mask, the Advanced Repair Mask. The product seems quite nourishing and detoxifying, as it incorporates a proprietary blend of Wild Neem Flower Honey, detoxifying clays, reparative herbs, and restorative extracts like Blue Tansy and Black Currant. The formula has claims for softening, calming, clarifying, and restoring skin. Due to my dry and sensitive skin type, I prefer using more rich and hydrating masks especially cream, gel, or honey-based formulas, rathers than dry powder masks. This new product looks like something I would really enjoy, and since I’ve loved so much of the Malaya Organics line already, I am sure it will not disappoint!
$78, Malaya Organics.
Clove + Hallow makeup: I’ve seen this brand pop up a lot this year on my social media feeds, and I’m very intrigued by their clean, cruelty-free, vegan formulas. I’m particularly curious about their Conceal + Correct Concealer, which not only comes in 11 shades, but also seems to have lightweight, buildable coverage and a moisturizing, liquid consistency, which is what I like in a concealer. Their beautiful lip products also intrigue me, with a great variety of finishes and colors. I have heard a lot of amazing things about the high quality performance of Clove + Hallow products, and every photo I see seems to showcase the beautiful pigmentation and variety of colors among all their products.
Clove + Hallow. Select products also available at The Detox Market and Safe & Chic.
Aether Beauty eyeshadow palettes: This brand has caught my attention not only for its bold and beautiful looking eyeshadow pigments, but also because every palette is made of paper and free of extra materials like eyeshadow pans–making it fully recyclable and zero waste. Aether Beauty currently offers two eyeshadow palettes: Rose Quartz Gemstone and Crystal Grid Gemstone. Both look beautiful but I would gravitate more towards the rose-based neutral hued Rose Quartz palette, which also includes matte, shimmer, metallic and duo-chrome shades, while the Crystal Grid palette only has shimmer shades. I also like that these eyeshadows incorporate organic, natural, and fair trade ingredients, specifically organic coconut oil, organic shea butter, and organic rosehip oil for smooth texture, nourishment, and radiance. Since I’m trying to be more minimalistic and practical about my beauty purchases, I haven’t tried many new eyeshadow palettes in the past year, so Aether Beauty palettes are definitely on my list.
$58, Aether Beauty. Also available at Credo Beauty, and Safe & Chic.
