of interest: green beauty shop openings & “remade” clothing

I used to regularly post my “New Releases Radar” series about new green beauty product releases but I feel like my interests have shifted. While I loved sharing about certain releases that caught my eye, I also wanted to post about news and trends beyond green beauty. So my “New Releases Radar” will now be called “Of Interest”, a regular-ish roundup of things that are happening in the “green-sphere” (clean beauty, eco-fashion, etc.) that you might want to know about. Hope you enjoy!

The Detox Market and Follain Stores Open in NYC: The Detox Market recently opened its first New York City brick and mortar shop in SoHo. This is the first physical TDM store in NYC and it looks massive and absolutely beautiful. The only other U.S. locations are in California, while there are three stores in the store’s home city of Toronto. TDM carries a great variety of my favorite brands in green beauty and skincare, plus the stores have great events with brand founders and other special guests. I also love that with every purchase, you can rack up rewards points. As a longtime, loyal TDM customer and fan, I can’t wait to visit in-person when I am back home in NYC for the holidays. The Detox Market, 76 Houston St., New York, NY 10012.

Follain also opened it’s first store in New York in the West Village. This makes it the sixth physical store for the popular green beauty e-commerce site, with locations in Dallas, Seattle, Maryland, and their home city of Boston (there are two shops in Boston). Follain was started by former blogger, Tara Foley, whose concept for Follain won a national retail business plan competition during Foley’s MBA program. Follain is a popular destination for clean beauty and skincare lovers everywhere, and their customer service and brand curation is really awesome. I also cannot wait to stop by their new store in NYC! Follain, 92 Greenwich Ave, New York, NY 10011.

Kosas Cosmetics Pop-up Shop: Minimalist-chic lipstick powerhouse brand, Kosas has a cool pop-up shop in New York City this holiday season. Not only is this a rare chance to test out luxe Kosas products in person, the pop-up shop three exclusive holiday sets only available at the store, including an exclusive lipstick shade, a matching Kosas hoodie and lipstick set (clothing + lipstick?!), and a makeup bag set with blush and lipstick. The seemingly Instagram-worthy pop-up shop also just looks like a fun place for beauty lovers to engage in all things Kosas in one place–from their new Tinted Face Oil foundation to their cream blushes, and iconic lip products. Make sure to head here before the pop-up closes on December 31. Kosas Cosmetics pop-up shop, 85 Mercer St, New York, NY 10012.

Hackwith Design House’s “remade” and used clothing shop: For anyone who has drooled over clothes from ethical, made in the USA brand, Hackwith Design House yet might not be able to justify spending so much money on one piece, the brand has created a win-win solution: The Sustain Shop. The shop sells good-as-new, pre-owned and mended/re-made HDH pieces at discounted prices. HDH recycles and re-makes clothes from pre-loved HDH pieces either from past season collections, samples, or items sent in from customers. “Pieces that are still in good-as-new condition will be resold on our site at a lower price point. Pieces that we receive with holes, tears, or stains will be evaluated by our team of seamstresses, and mended or transformed into a completely new piece.” Customers who send in HDH pieces to The Sustain Shop receive a $20 store credit per piece.

The Sustain Shop provides great options for consumers to buy HDH pieces at a fraction of the price. There are limited pieces available and the shop releases groups of clothes for purchase about once a week. Learn more about the whole process here. Follow the Sustain Shop on Instagram to find out when new pieces come to the shop. As expected, stock sells quite quickly and once something is sold, it’s gone! While I haven’t purchased anything from HDH yet, I’ve been following the brand for awhile and would love to treat myself to a unique piece from The Sustain Shop. Plus, I love that all their clothes are small batch, made to order, which means they have more petite-friendly sizes.

Sending you warm wishes for the holiday season! I can’t wait to relax with family, enjoy some good food and just celebrate the season!
