Color, Protect, Revive: Suntegrity Lip C.P.R in Solar Rose

Suntegrity is one of my favorite brands for healthy, non-toxic sun protection and recently, they’ve expanded their line to lip products with SPF. Suntegrity Lip C.P.R. is a collection of 8 colorful lipsticks utilizing non-nano zinc oxide (as in their face and body products) for natural, non-toxic sun protection.

In this case, C.P.R. stands for Color, Protect, Revive and the products do exactly that thanks to a lovely blend of ingredients such as organic jojoba oil, shea butter, and cocoa butter for hydration and creamy texture, natural pigments for rich color, and konjac root extract to visibly reduces the look of fine lines. The Lip C.P.R. formula also has a hint of stevia for a delicious sweet flavor.

If there’s anything I love in a makeup product, it’s sun protection combined with lipstick! I was very excited to try the Lip C.P.R. line out. The colors in this collection are stunning and reach a great range of shades. In particular, Solar Rose described as “a wisp of dusty rose”, was calling my name. This shade is definitely the mauvey-berry color I usually gravitate towards. I guess I am a creature of habit when it comes to lipstick shades.

The formula is superb: it is intensely creamy and very pigmented. Solar Rose is the perfect year-round, natural rose color and I love how long-lasting it is. There are tiny specks of shimmer in the lipstick, though not overly sparkly it provides the lips with a beautiful and naturally radiant finish. The moisturizing formula keeps my dry lips so hydrated throughout the day, I don’t even need to wear lip balm with this lipstick. In my opinion, at $28 each, the price of these products are also quite reasonable for a long lasting, high quality lipstick containing natural SPF 30.

No matter the temperature or humidity, this lipstick withstands the sun and nastiness of NYC summer, and to me, that says a lot. I love the fact that even though it wears like a regular lipstick, I can rest assured that my lips are effectively protected. For reference, Suntegrity face and body products contain 20% non-nano zinc oxide and the Lip C.P.R. products contain 18%. Compared to lots of other SPF lip products on the market, that’s a very high amount of natural sun protection especially for the lips!

The only downside to this lipstick in my opinion, is the packaging. And to me, even that is quite minor in the makings of a truly good lipstick. I’m just a bit picky… The lipstick tube itself is slim and mirrored which allows for a lot of yucky fingerprints on it with continued use and it’s quite slippery to hold. I also don’t like how banged up the lipstick tube gets when I leave it in my makeup bag. I wish Suntegrity had also chosen to package these lipsticks using less paper products. The initial box this arrives in is chic and colorful in design but in the end, it feels unnecessarily bulky and wasteful.

That being said, the Suntegrity Lip C.P.R. lipsticks are such a nice product that I would definitely recommend trying if you are on the hunt for an effective, clean lipstick that provides sun protection! The formula is stellar and the unique finishes will make any lips instantly lush. I definitely want to try more of these in the future, Plum Eclipse and Sunset Coral, I’m looking at you two…

$28 each, available at Credo Beauty, The Detox Market, or Suntegrity.

*Edit: I almost forgot! Below are swatches of all the Suntegrity Lip C.P.R. colors. Each one is extremely creamy and pigmented. Each swatch pictured took only one swipe! Which ones are your favorites?

Beauty tidbit: I also love that Suntegrity is run by a woman inspired by her mother. Tricia Trimble decided to formulate healthy, non-toxic sunscreen products in honor of her mother, who had passed away from skin cancer. I met Tricia recently and she is super friendly and so passionate about her work, which makes me so happy to support Suntegrity!
