The official summer months may be gone, but that doesn’t mean you can’t maintain healthy radiant skin! Here are the top eight skincare products that I have been loving and will continue using to keep my summer glow all year long:
Suntegrity Natural Face Sunscreen & Primer, SPF 30: If there is one thing I have learned from my boundless research, testing, and skincare consults, its that a daily moisturizer with sunscreen is not a product to overlook. Suntegrity is my top choice for daily sun protection, even if I do spend most of my day inside an office. Suntegrity’s formula exceeds many others I’ve tried because it is lightweight, moisturizing, and doesn’t irritate my skin. In fact, I find that it leaves my skin looking fresh and a bit more even in tone. This moisturizer protects against UVA and UVB rays and also primes the skin, providing an ideal skin texture for makeup application. I would only complain about the product’s packaging because it is super bulky (pretty impossible to travel around with) and the mirrored surface attracts lots of yucky fingerprints. Until Suntegrity creates this product in more convenient tube packaging, I usually pump mine into a travel jar or squeeze tube for on-the-go use. $45, (1.7oz), at Suntegrity, Credo Beauty.
Cecilia Wong Skincare Rose Serum Toner*: I enjoy toners that reinvigorate and soothe dull, irritated skin. This nourishing rose toner from Cecilia Wong Skincare not only smells divine thanks to a custom blend of organic rose oils, it also includes hyaluronic acid which plumps fine lines, reduces irritation, and boosts elasticity of skin. With each spritz you can feel the restorative nourishment of this toner. This mist’s custom blended, organic oil and herb-based formula also targets sun damage and dryness, nourishing and protecting the skin, traits that are necessary for keeping skin radiant and supple all year long. Not only is this a pretty powerful toner, you also get a ton of product in the bottle and a little goes a long way. $40 (3.38 fl. oz), Cecilia Wong Skincare.
Leahlani Skincare Aloha Ambrosia Morning Moisture Elixir: A face serum for daytime use? That was something I was skeptical of too, but Aloha Ambrosia is the daytime serum to use if any. Not only is it hydrating, lightweight, and keeps irritations at bay, Aloha Ambrosia smells like a sunny, tropical beach tricking your senses into thinking that it truly is summer all year-round. I love mixing a bit of this serum in my daily moisturizer to really get my skin super hydrated and glowing. (Read my full review of this product here.) $52 (2 oz), at Leahlani Skincare, CAP Beauty, Seed to Serum.
One Love Organics Skin Dew Coconut Water Cream*: This is another skincare product that will transport you to tropical landscapes and warm weather, no matter what time of year it is. The Skin Dew Coconut Water Cream enriches and boosts skin through a skin-nourishing, plant-based formula including coconut water, cupuacu butter, acacia, jojoba, and sunflower. What I love most about this cream is that it has a unique texture: it’s deeply hydrating, yet very lightweight. It leaves my dry, sensitive skin extremely supple and radiant without feeling or looking greasy. This cream absorbs quickly into skin and also acts as a great, moisturizing base to layer with other products. Not to mention, this rich cream smells like fresh coconuts! (Note: Product design has recently changed from the version I have.) $58 (2.1 oz), at One Love Organics, Credo Beauty.
Hush + Dotti Eye Balm*: With grad school, a long commute to work, traveling for work and tons of weddings, I’ve been on-the-go a lot this summer with little time to spare on a complicated skincare routine. Hush + Dotti’s Eye Balm has been a godsend for me since not only because of it’s awesome lip balm-esque stick packaging (super convenient to travel with), but also because the silky, soothing formula has been keeping me from looking like a zombie. This eye balm contains nutrient-rich ingreidents like cucumber oil, olive squalene and rosehip oil that moisturize, de-puff, soothe, and smooth the under eye area. The formula glides on to skin and instantly hydrates the most sensitive areas of the skin. Being the germaphobe that I am, I also appreciate that I can apply this stick directly on my under eye area (no sticking my fingers into a teeny eye balm jar), pat on gently, and the balm quickly absorbs into skin. This balm can also be used on areas like cuticles or dry patches on the skin. I definitely cannot travel anywhere without this amazing, multiuse product! $36 (.75 oz), at Hush + Dotti, Safe & Chic.
Tata Harper Resurfacing Mask: For the good of this blog and for readers like you, I try out more facial masks than I know I ought to, but the select few masks I revisit, are generally gel or cream-based masks. The Tata Harper Resurfacing Mask is one that I recommend for year-round treatment because it acts like a traditional facial peel, instantly revitalizing and purifying skin yet with an effective, organic formula. This beta-hydroxy mask is gentle and nourishing and with regular use, it not only provides refreshed, glowing skin, but also helps keep my skin smooth, cleansed, and irritation-free. Besides from using this as an all-over facial mask, you can use this mask as a spot treatment for acne; I use it as an overnight spot treatment (as Tata Harper recommends) and wake up with less prounounced spots and clearer skin. $58 (30ml), Tata Harper, Credo Beauty.
The Little Alchemist Pineapple & Zeolite Micro Polish: Exfoliating is a step in my skincare routine that I often overlook, though I’ve recently reminded myself of the importance of regular exfoliation. With sensitive skin, I am always careful with how often and what I use to exfoliate, so naturally I gravitate towards gentle, cream or gel-based exfoliants. This lovely scrub from Australian brand, The Little Alchemist checks all the boxes in my ideal exfoliating product: the gel-like texture contains tiny, gentle Jojoba beads and utilizes organic fruit extracts, mainly pineapple enzymes, to restore radiance, purify skin, and a maintain fresh, smooth complexion. I also cannot resist the fresh, fruity scent and the gentle yet reinvigorating feel of this scrub. In particular, I’ve found this product is great for getting rid of blackheads and immediately revealing soft, radiant skin. I purchased the trial size to test this out and it is still quite a lot of product that lasts awhile. $52 (3.4 fl. oz), The Little Alchemist (AU store), Seed to Serum.
Rahua Enchanted Island Salt Spray: Okay, so this is technically not a skincare product but this hair product has become just as important to my routine. In summer season, I usually adopt a more simplified beautify routine, purely due to time and laziness. I’ve improved my haircare routine this summer, as I searched for the perfect product that would maintain my locks for days when I skip shampooing. While Rahua’s salt spray is a great styling product, I don’t really do much to my hair on a daily basis. This is the only product I’ve found so far that prolongs the freshness of my hair on a regular basis and makes me feel like a tropical goddess by providing a bit of volume. I also love that it infuses my hair with an irresistibly fruity, floral scent of hibiscus and passion fruit. I’ve found dry shampoos to be a bit harsh on my finicky locks, yet Rahua’s salt spray helps to prolong my hair’s natural shine and texture, while helping me avoid greasy, smelly hair at least for a day or two more during the week. I will keep using this product when my hair needs a natural and fresh pick-me-up. $32 (4.2 fl oz), Rahua, The Detox Market.
