Previously known as Caru Skincare Co. (which I’ve featured and raved about in past posts), Apoterra Skincare is the rebranding of the same plant and mineral based, all-natural, sustainable, organic skincare line that I fell in love with. The new vintage floral, apothecary-inspired design and product packaging are refreshing and beautiful as ever. And the products? Founder Dominique Caron has refined and enhanced her formulas for even more effective and delicious skincare products. With moisturizers, serums, toners, facial treatments, and bath/body products, Apoterra Skincare has a great product offering that reaches all areas of every skincare routine.
On top of a chic, new redesign and superb quality ingredients, Apoterra Skincare also includes a batch number and production date stamped on every product label so that you can trace the exact origins of ingredients online. I love brands that go the extra mile in product transparency. The more information brands provide, the more you know about what you’re using on your body. Apoterra’s batch number system gets an extra plus in my book. Check it out here.
Apoterra means “derived from the earth”, apo = derived from, terra = earth.
I’ve been testing Apoterra products* for a few months now and am finally ready to share my thoughts. It’s taken me a while only because I wanted to thoroughly explain and showcase this brand in the most thoughtful way it deserves. Spoiler: I kind of love everything.
Rose Hydrating Toner with Hyaluronic Acid + Rooibos: When I was told this toner has a gel-like consistency, I was immediately intrigued. The gentle, gel texture leaves my skin feeling deeply cleansed yet it doesn’t leave me feeling parched or dry. This toner is more like a skin treatment, the gel consistency leaves behind a hydrating layer that locks in moisture and leaves skin feeling hydrated for hours. Whenever I use this toner I’m always amazed at how supple my skin feels, all day long.
Not only is the Rose Hydrating Toner a beautifully-scented product, the formula is very unique as far as toners go. Consisting of certified organic ingredients such as beautifying rose and clarifying rooibos, this toner deeply hydrates and promotes a healthy, clear and smooth complexion. This toner is also formulated with an increasing popular ingredient, hyaluronic acid which is “naturally found in the human body and is a cell-communicating ingredient that boosts your skin’s moisture content while reducing inflammation.” Also known as: very beneficial for your skin.
Though I’m a lazy bum and prefer the easy, spritz-on-your-face-and-go toner bottle, Apoterra’s Rose Hydrating Toner has a more convenient pump bottle so that you always get the right amount of product onto your cotton ball. (For a spray toner, try Apoterra’s clarifying toner.) This toner pumps out as a deep redish-brown colored gel and once applied, it is lightweight in texture yet provides a gentle, deep clean where a little goes a long way. Using this toner is a nice skincare ritual in itself, that gets you to slow down and really enjoy the product. For a revolutionary step to your ordinary skincare routine, I cannot recommend trying this toner enough. $38 for 4 fl oz.

Tulsi Rejuvenating Oil with Lavender + Evening Primrose: If there ever was a more soothing body oil, it’s this one from Apoterra. A blend of nourishing and balancing certified organic essential oils combined with wildcrafted lavender ensure that the Tulsi Rejuvenating Oil is not just another body oil. I normally have problems with body oil in the winter because most do not penetrate my dry skin deeply enough. I love how the Tulsi Rejuvenating Oil quickly moisturizes and leaves my skin with lasting nourishment. No constant reapplication and no sign of flaky skin!
I swear warmth radiates from this delectably scented, deeply moisturizing body oil so I’ve been using it to keep me from shivering in my skin as cold weather arrives. The intoxicatingly spicy-sweet scent of tulsi and lavender oil has also won me over and I’m officially addicted. I used this body oil up faster than any other body product I own, it’s definitely a favorite. $28 for 4 fl oz.

Soaps: My favorite products from Caru Skincare Co. were the beautiful handmade soaps. I was pleased to see Apoterra’s soaps are even better than I remembered and with amazing new ingredient and scent combinations, it’s hard to resist not scooping up every soap. You also get a lot of bang for your buck with these nicely sized bars of soap. I was able to try out Apoterra’s complexion soaps (which you can also use as a facial soap) and each has a lovely silky lather that leaving skin feeling silky smooth and extremely nourished. Not only do these soaps smell amazing, they keep skin feeling healthy, smooth and moisturized. You can feel the moisturizing effects of Apoterra soaps long after the lather. The scent is not as strong as I imagined but definitely evokes a sweet, soothing aroma whenever used. It is recommended for all skin types and I think anyone and everyone will fall in love with this soap. $12 for 4.5oz

The Chamomile + White Clay Complexion Soap is another home-run for soaps. I was curious about this product as I have pretty dry skin, especially in the winter. Recommended for Dry to Mature skintypes, the Chamomile + White Clay Complexion Soap utilizes ingredients like jojoba, coconut, and olive oils, chamomile and white clay to reduce skin redness and irritation while nourishing and gently cleansing the skin. “Powerhouse chamomile heals, pure white clay gently detoxifies, and a blend of therapeutic essential oils deliver deep nourishment.” The scent is dreamy and soothing, while the soap has a nice silky lather and leaves skin feeling very smooth, soft and supple. I love using this gentle soap on my face to balance and soothe my skin. $12 for 4.5 oz.
