The Testing Table \ Vol. 2

(Products listed clockwise, click product names for links. All products purchased by me or received as a sample with orders I purchased myself unless otherwise indicated.)

Here’s another roundup of the products I’ve been trying out (a small selection among many!) I’ve definitely been on the hunt for a new cleanser and daily moisturizer since I’ve finished and found my staples: Pai Skincare Cleanser and Pai Geranium & Thistle Day Cream. Plus, I’m always curious to try brands that are new to me. Here’s how this volume went:

A Balanced Cleanse for the Body and Soul with Joulebody

Despite everyone rushing to do juice cleanses of all sorts, I’ve never really been a fan of the movement. I have a fast metabolism so I’m always eating or snacking on something to keep my stomach from rumbling and my appetite sated. (Okay, and also to prevent me from being too grumpy during the day.) I consider my eating and exercising habits to be pretty healthy overall yet I’ve also always been curious about the detoxifying and energizing benefits cleanses have been said to have. I just couldn’t see myself surviving on just liquids for a week or longer.

Enter Joulebody. I was first introduced to the local NYC-based company  at a recent bloggers meetup organized by Sarita where Joulebody products were generously provided for us to sample. Joulebody is a 1oo% organic and vegan cleansing program founded by Yvette Rose that involves both juice and healthy food as part of the plan. The program is a plant based, 75% raw foods diet; “food that is packed with essential healing nutrients that have medicinal restorative properties.” Joulebody cleanses will replenish and cleanse your body, as well as restart your metabolism.

A Rosy Outlook: Caru Skincare Co. Rose Facial Serum

CaruRoseSerum1

Caru Skincare Co. products were a pleasant discovery for me this past year. These organic products are gentle and effective, handmade and crafted in small batches, and feature the most beautiful sustainable packaging I have ever laid eyes on. Product wrappers and labels have small seedlings embedded in them, so that you can plant the wrappers and grow a real plant! Read more about why I fell in love with this innovative, beautiful company in my review HERE and my interview with Caru Skincare’s founder, Dominque Caron HERE.

Caru Skincare recently released new travel-friendly sizes of their popular facial toners (now conveniently with a spray bottle top) and introduced four new, intriguing facial serums for Summer. In addition, you can choose to purchase from the new travel size sets of skincare products. I was very excited when Caru generously provided me with a sample of their new Rose Facial Serum to try out!

CaruSerumsCaruTravelSet

As someone with perpetually dry skin no matter the season, I really love creams and facial oils that keep my skin soft and moisturized without making me look or feel like a total grease-ball. Caru’s Rose Facial Serum is simply formulated to perfection featuring a powerful blend of botanical essential oils that are certified organic: jojoba, rose, geranium, carrot seed, evening primrose, pomegranate, and rosehip. These ingredients make for a lightly floral-scented, ultra-hydrating facial serum perfect for applying during the day or at night.
CaruRoseSerum2CaruRoseSerum3

I love how light and silky the texture of this serum is and how smooth and supple it makes my skin feel. I find myself often wearing this serum as a substitute for a daily facial moisturizer as it is hydrating and nourishing enough for my skin. It’s a nice, moisturizing base that you can wear under makeup or for extra nourishment and treatment at night.

“This serum will take seriously good care of your skin. When applied in the morning and night, this serum will help keep your skin looking fresh and vibrant and will help liven a dull complexion. It will leave skin feeling smooth, supple, and may help increase elasticity and decrease the visibility of fine lines.”

Caru’s Rose Facial Serum checks off everything on my list of what I like in a facial serum: keeps skin nourished and hydrated, leaves skin fresh and glowing, doesn’t look oily or feel overly greasy, and sticks to a simple, effective blend of natural ingredients. The lovely, compact packaging is another definite plus; the serum is housed in a frosted glass bottle with a convenient pump-top and is light enough to travel with.

Caru Skincare’s Rose Facial Serum is another skincare necessity that I’m adding to my permanent facial oil arsenal. I’m curious to try the other newly released serums but specifically, the Immortelle Facial Serum. It has a unique mixture of blue chamomile, cypress, grapeseed, and hempseed with claims to tame oily complexions and prevent blemishes.

The Rose Facial Serum is $32 for 1 fl oz. Get it on the Caru Skincare Co. website here, Caru’s Etsy store, or at Pemberley Jones. Caru Skincare Co. also just announced they’ll be including free samples with every order from their website and seriously, just take a peek at these lovely samples, you’re gonna want in on that!

Ingredients: Jojoba oil*, Pomegranate oil, Evening Primrose oil*, Rosehip oil*, Rose essential oil*, Geranium essential oil*, Carrot Seed essential oil*, essential oil blend*  *certified organic

Banishing Acne for a Bargain: Desert Essence Blemish Touch Stick

DesertEssence1 It’s hard to top my favorite acne diminishing product, Osmia Organics’ Spot Treatment (see my full review HERE) and yet, I’ve found a worthy, bargain-priced contender: Desert Essence’s Blemish Touch Stick ($5.99). I couldn’t believe my eyes when I stumbled upon this natural, botanically-formulated skincare gem at Vitacost and was even more perplexed as to why other bloggers have not talked about it more. The Blemish Touch Stick swiftly treats acne spots and blemishes AND dries completely matte on skin after application. What?! Yep, you read that right. So you can treat your acne during the day, under makeup, moisturizer or serums without looking like a overly greasy, oily-spotted loony. DesertEssence2 Like most Desert Essence formulas, the Blemish Touch Stick combines a powerful proprietary blend of  sustainably-harvested, natural Tea Tree Oil with botanical essential oil extracts (Chamomile, Lavender, Palmarosa, Wintergreen and Calendula) to effectively diminish acne spots and skin imperfections while soothing and nourishing the skin. This product never leaves my face feeling dried out or flakey. I will note, this product feels and smells very potent on my sensitive skin. My skin did start to tingle and burn if I applied too much product to my face. Be especially careful if you apply to any areas near the eyes, it can easily cause irritation. Go easy with applying this product, there’s a ton to go around with the generous size of 0.31 fl oz.

“A combination of nine natural extracts and essential oils specially blended together in order to leave skin looking clear and radiant. The known antiseptic properties of Tea Tree Oil work to diminish skin imperfections while Chamomille, Lavender, Palmrose, Wintergreen and Calendula soothe and nourish the skin.”

The EWG Skin Deep Database rates this product at a low score of “2” for overall safety, see the details HERE. There’s no question I’ll always be true to the amazing Spot Treatment from Osmia Organics (the gentle formula and captivating scent alone has me shelling out dollars,) but when I need a quick, more affordable fix for my acne woes, Desert Essence’s Blemish Touch Stick will definitely be up there at the top of my repurchase list.

“Inspired by the healing spirit of the desert, our sustainable, natural products draw from nutrient rich desert botanicals like Jojoba, Aloe and Tee Tree, all revered in native culture for their deep healing properties. Naturally effective without harsh chemicals, our products work in harmony with your body to nurture, soothe and restore.”

The Testing Table \ Vol. 1

Wrap1

I’m not one to do regular posts on “empties” or monthly favorites, because usually there is no rhyme or reason to my beauty routine and I don’t necessarily encourage buying new things every month. However, as annoying as I sound, I do have an unhealthy obsession reading those types of posts on other blogs….
I thought a sporadic re-cap of products and things I’ve been testing out might be fun and also a good way to share my quick thoughts with you. So here it goes:

Mun No.1 Alknari Brightening Youth Serum (sample): This is a highly coveted luxury green beauty product I’d been wanting to try for a while but I was always hesitant to buy it due to the expensive price and small product size ($98 for 0.68 fl oz.). Let’s just say, the hype for this product is warranted. This serum made my skin feel silky smooth, moisturized, and glowing instantly. I massaged this aromatic serum on my face at night and would wake up seeing immediate results. This stuff is pure magic! I’m so impressed with the simple and powerful 100% Ecocert organic ingredients: prickly pear seed oil, argan oil, and rose essential oil. I’m coveting the last few drops of this and still trying to decide if I should eventually shell out the dough for the full size….sigh.

Osmia Organics Stracciatella Soap: I was so excited to snag this limited edition soap in the Osmia Organics’ special Earth Day Box. I’m a big fan of Osmia Organics’ organic, handmade soaps and all of their skincare products. Not only is this soap unique looking with black soap specks resembling Italian stracciatella gelato; this product combines two beloved Osmia soaps in one: the bestselling Black Clay Facial Soap and the Oh So Soap. You can use this soap to cleanse your face and your body. The Stracciatella Soap is an absolute treat for your skin and a beautiful soap to look at (see an “unwrapped” photo below). The texture is luxuriously silky lathered on the body and clarifying and gentle on the face. I enjoy using this both as a face cleanser and a regular body soap. The scent is fresh and milky but barely there and it doesn’t irritate skin. (Too bad it doesn’t smell like gelato!) Even though this soap size is a bit smaller than normal Osmia soap bars, I am still working through mine so you definitely do get a lot of soap for your money. Good news is that Osmia is still selling this limited edition soap on their website so grab them while you can! I know I will be! $14 for 4.5 oz

OsmiaStracciatellaSoap1

Pai Skincare Chamomile & Rosehip Calming Day Cream (sample): I’m still searching for an daily moisturizer that I love as much as my Pai Geranium & Thistle Rebalancing Day Cream (it has a matte finish and soothes my sensitive skin). I received a sample of the other version of Pai’s day cream in a recent order from Spirit Beauty Lounge. Similar hydrating, gentle formula though a bit greasier and thicker on my skin. This formula is considered the moisturizer for hyper-sensitive skin while Geranium and Thistle is for combination skin. I still think I love the Geranium and Thistle better as it has a unique, non-oily finish, light texture, and gentle yet hydrating for my dry sensitive skin. $60 for 1.7 fl oz (See my full Pai Skincare review HERE)

Osmia Organics Purely Simple Face Cream (sample): This is another score for Osmia Organics. I really liked this moisturizer which is described as a “cream for sensitive skin contains simple, pure, plant-sourced ingredients and tiny amounts of the most precious essential oils, to give moisture with very low potential for irritation or adverse reaction.” This cream was a perfect daily moisturizer for my dry and sensitive skin. It was soothing and not irritating plus felt light and not oily on my face. I think it really helped smooth out and calm my reactive skin and lessened any breakouts or inflammation when I used the cream alone and also with Osmia’s Active Gel Toner. I do think I will purchase the full-size of this cream in the future simply because my skin loved it so much. $60 for 1.7 fl oz

Kure Bazaar Nail Lacquer in Macaron: I’d had my eye on trying a nail polish from Kure Bazaar for a while and picked out the color Macaron during a sale at Spirit Beauty Lounge. Kure Bazaar offers a wide-range of colors, are “5-free”, and made in France. I was hoping this nail polish wouldn’t have a chemical smell like most nail polishes do and would be long-lasting and bold in pigment. This polish did smell strongly which was a letdown however, it did dry quickly. I was more disappointed in the light, streaky texture of the polish. Macaron turned out to be a very pretty, pastel pink, that I think is perfect for Spring. However, it took me about 3-4 coats of nail polish to cover my nails completely and without a top coat, the nail polish didn’t last very long. I love the color of this nail polish, but the formula had me highly disappointed. I’m still interested in trying more colors from Kure Bazaar but am looking forward to trying other nail polish brands. $16 for 0.4 oz

Tata Harper Rebuilding Moisturizer (sample): Yes, more moisturizer samples! I’ve been wanting to try products from Tata Harper for a while. All her product sound luxurious, have gotten rave reviews, and I love that all the ingredients are grown on her organic farm in Vermont. Due to the expensive prices, I knew I needed to test the products out before committing. I liked this moisturizer a lot; it wasn’t greasy, had a light, creamy texture, didn’t irritate my skin, and kept my skin feeling soft and moisturized. But, this moisturizer just seemed pretty average to me. The smell is very herbal but light. It does dissipate after a few minutes though I didn’t really like smelling it upon applying. I definitely admire Tata Harper as a brand but I think I’ll still have to try her other products to see one I feel is worth shelling out my cash for. $100.00 for 1.7 oz

One Love Organics Gardenia Body Serum (sample): I purchased the Rose scent of this body serum a while back but never got around to writing about it. Let’s just say the Rose formula took a while for me to like. This one however, was absolute love at first spritz! Offered as an add-on to my OLO order during a No More Dirty Looks promo, the Gardenia Body Serum smells like floral heaven and is super moisturizing. The formula sinks into my skin, feels light, and provides lasting hydration. The scent is not overly powerful but lingers as a beautiful, fresh floral. I could not stop spraying this stuff on myself! Suffice to say, it was too small a sample. I’ve been waiting with anticipation to purchase the full size from One Love Organics and it is released today, Monday, June 16th. Plus, also launching on the same date, the new summer releases from OLO and they are all super intriguing (a dry shampoo, cleanser, toning mist, body serum)…NEED!! $39 for 3.8 oz

Zion Health Shampoo Vanilla Coconut (2oz, **P.R. sample): Picture a warm, sunny, exotic beach in the Tropics. Got it? That’s what I think of when I use this lovely, all-natural, clay mineral-based shampoo. The formula is light, clarifying, and the scent is addicting. My fussy hair actually responded well to this shampoo and wasn’t left feeling greasy. I was even able to wash my hair with this daily without my hair freaking out. I love that Zion Health offers nice sized and nicely priced travel sizes of the shampoo. $13.99- 13 fl oz, full size or $1.00- 2 fl oz, travel size. See my review on Zion Health’s natural clay mineral toothpaste HERE)

Hope you enjoyed this first installation of my Testing Table and I’ll have more in the future! Have you tried any of these products? What are you currently testing out?

 RLlindenMist2

Looking for the perfect facial mist that’ll take you right into the Spring season? I purchased the acclaimed R.L. Linden & Co. Thousand Petal Beautifying Mist ($48, 3.4oz/100ml) a while back and have been using it obsessively every day now. This lovely “Hydrating Floral Toner” awakens the senses with it’s energizing aromatic properties and delicate skin-healing effects. My spirits are immediately uplifted whenever I use this product and my thirsty skin just can’t get enough of it.

“Abundant with beautifying flowers, this mist tones and hydrates all skin types, offers anti-anxiety aromatherapy benefits and encourages you to feel radiant as your most gorgeous self!”

Reminiscent of a bouquet of fresh flowers with sweet notes of citrus, a spritz of the Thousand Petal Beautifying Mist refreshes the skin with a fragrant blend of Colorado spring water, honeysuckle, neroli and rose, jasmine, and flower essences. These ingredients keep skin hydrated, revitalized, and super smooth while providing anti-anxiety aromatherapy benefits. I also love how this toner reduces redness in my face and isn’t irritating for my sensitive skin. This mist is a nice, light product that can be sprayed onto the face throughout the day and before or after using makeup.

R.L. Linden & Co. is a brand based in Denver, Colorado featuring all natural skincare, bath and body products, and healing teas. The creators of R.L. “Our skincare is gentle, effective, customizable to your skin-type and bursting with the beautifying and uplifting properties of flowers. We focus on pure, plant-based, organic ingredients that you can easily pronounce, in as close to their whole natural state as possible.”

I can’t say enough good things about R.L. Linden’s Thousand Petal Beautifying Mist. It’s a natural toner that not only refreshes and treats my skin but also revitalizes my skin and my spirit. And that my friends, is a true rarity in my book.  I can’t help but feel gorgeous every day when using such a beautiful product!

Brushing with Clay: Zion Health ClayBrite Natural Toothpaste Review

claybrite1

Have you ever thought to brush your teeth with clay? Me neither.

When California-based natural health company, Zion Health reached out to me to try some of their products, my curiosity centered around ClayBrite, their popular mint-flavored, non-fluoride toothpaste that contains clay minerals. I was most intrigued about claims that ClayBrite’s natural mineral ingredients “help heal gums, prevent cavities, and neutralize bad breath.” As someone who has sensitive gums, this caught my attention. Additionally, Zion Health maintains that these natural minerals get in between teeth and beneath gum layers to absorb and diminish bacteria, eliminate bad breath, and also whiten teeth. Xylitol and Green Tea extract prevents bleeding gums and plaque buildup.

I have to admit, I haven’t tried many natural toothpastes. The only natural toothpastes I’ve used have been Tom’s of Maine products and I never liked any of them. They never made my teeth feel clean enough or taste as fresh as when I used non-natural toothpastes. I was very interested to see if ClayBrite would make me want to put down my less-green toothpastes forever. (Tom’s toothpastes do indeed contain sodium lauryl sulfate which many people like to avoid.)

claybrite2

The brown, muddy color of the ClayBrite toothpaste is enough to make many people gag at first sight. I, however was pleased. Clay minerals, remember? The color doesn’t last though, as soon as you brush your teeth and spit out the product, the dark brown hue lightens and it doesn’t seem so abnormal to be sticking this in your mouth. The texture was malleable and soft though a bit grainier and stiffer than regular toothpastes. Overall, the formula didn’t seem much different to brush my teeth with.

I can say after using ClayBrite for many weeks, I love how gentle and effective it is at cleaning and maintaining my teeth. My teeth feel clean without feeling sore. Usually, my gums are easily irritated especially if I get a cold sore in my mouth, but ClayBrite made brushing my teeth painless and actually pleasant. I even believe this toothpaste have helped to strengthen my sensitive gums. I can’t say for sure if this has whitened my teeth overall, but I have noticed my teeth seem to be consistently whiter even after days of excessive tea-drinking.

claybrite3-1

The toothpaste’s mint flavor, derived from natural mint, stevia leaf extract, and grapefruit seed extract ingredients, leaves my breath feeling extremely fresh and retains a minty taste, something I enjoyed and didn’t expect from a natural toothpaste.

As for details about Calcium Montmorillonite, the toothpaste’s clay mineral ingredient, I inquired with Zion Health about what it was exactly, why it is a key ingredient, and where the company acquires it from. Here is part of their interesting response:

Calcium Montmorillonite comes from a remote region near Palm Desert, CA- Originally sold as a mineral supplement to astronauts in the 1960s-due to its high calcium content-this unique clay helped prevent bone decay.

Because of its high mineral content this special type of clay provides healthy nutrients to the body when consumed internally. Founder Haim Zion, discovered when he started drinking these minerals in powder form with water, he experienced immediate benefits to his sore, bleeding gums. Upon further research, he discovered this clay worked better than standard toothpastes and dentist recommended toothpastes for healing the gums, along with controlling cavities. He teamed with a group of natural health chemists to create a toothpaste formulation that had a pleasant flavor along with a proper amount of CM Clay to offer maximum benefits to the gums and teeth.

More details about this clay here: We get our clay from California Earth Minerals.

My own research did confirm that calcium montmorillonite has been used to aid astronauts suffering from calcium loss and bone decay due to the effects of weightlessness and other environmental factors in space. Calcium montmorillonite, also known as the “living clay” was also traditionally used by Native Americans healers as a internal and external healing agent. The mineral deposits originated from volcanic ash, minerals and eons of weathering. (Read more here.) Additionally, Zion Health’s ClayBrite Natural Toothpaste scored a low “1” rating in the Environmental Working Group’s Skin Deep database for overall health hazards.

I was really pleased with ClayBrite Natural Toothpaste and using it surpassed my expectations. Would I purchase this again? I think so! It’s certainly affordable: $7.49 for 3.2oz. at Adama Minerals or $5.59 at Vitacost.

PLUS get $10 off orders of $35 or more and free shipping at Adama Minerals! Use code: “pleinvanity” at checkout.

Ingredients: Sorbitol, Glycerin, Sodium Bicarbonate, Calcium Montmorillonite Desert Clay , Hydrated Silica, Kaolin, Carboxymethyl Cellulose, Sodium Cocoyl Glutamate (derived from coconut), Sodium Lauryl Sarcosinate (derived from sodium salt), Stevia Extract, Purified Water, Grapefruit Extract, Xylitol, Green Tea Extract, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Menthol, Spearmint Oil, Sodium Ascorbate, Calcium Ascorbate, Boron Citrate, Zinc Citrate

ILIA Beauty’s Fade Into You Review

FadeIntoYou2

By now you should know I’m quite an ILIA Beauty fangirl, so as soon as the brand released some exciting, new products for Spring I quickly snapped up the whole collection. (I have a slight problem, okay?) I fell hard for the new tinted lip conditioner colors but I was most excited about ILIA’s first translucent powder product, Fade Into You. I’m all about products that are portable, refillable, mess-free, and lessens my morning makeup routine by 5 minutes. Fit a product into any of those categories and I’m sold!
FadeIntoYou3

ILIA’s Fade Into You is a lightweight, translucent powder with a refillable, retractable brush packaging. I don’t often use finishing powder or translucent powders as I generally prefer makeup with a dewy finish and also because my face has never been overly oily. Powder always seemed like an extra step to my everyday makeup routine and seemed to make my skin feel worse and more weighed down. It turns out, I’ve been using Fade Into You more often than I thought. I’ll admit, I definitely purchased this on impulse due to the groundbreaking packaging rather than necessity (a refillable, organic translucent powder with brush?!) but I’m very glad I picked this up. {Fade Into You is $34 for 0.14oz/4g online at ILIA Beauty}

Fade Into You is truly transparent and very lightweight in texture. It looks and feels “barely there” and a little bit goes a long way. I’ve found this powder effectively sets my cream-based makeup while keeps my face soft, shine-free, and never dried out. Fade Into You also reduces any red spots I have on my face and gives a soft, mattifying, almost-photoshopped finish to my skin. I’m always doing double-takes in the mirror after applying this powder, it looks that good! Sometimes I even wear this powder over nothing but my moisturizer for a simple, matte, soft-focus look.

You can feel the gentle effects (and yummy scents) of the product’s silky blend of organic powder and oils including Aloe Leaf extract, Passion Fruit and Rosemary oils ingredients, all of which contain anti-inflammatory properties to help soothe the skin. These nourishing ingredients allow the powder to not have a drying effect on the skin. My skin always feels soft, moisturized, and never cakey when applying Fade Into You. Of course, I always make sure to aptly apply moisturizer to my dry skin beforehand.

“ILIA Translucent Powder is an organic blend of powders and light essential oils. A touch of silica is added to minimize pores and improves overall skin tone. Shake powder to surface of brush and apply to the face liberally.”

To dispense the powder, I tap the bottom of the product’s barrel against the palm of my hand, which shakes the powder to the top of the brush. The powder is located in the lower area of the tube and dispenses up into the middle of the brush. Next, I dab or lightly tap the brush over desired areas of my face rather than brushing it over my face. To refill the powder, the bottom section of the product covered by a cap features a powder compartment which can be unscrewed, removed, and refilled. The brush can also be unscrewed from the tube for easy cleaning.

Powder refills will be available from ILIA in Summer 2014. Until then, I’m thinking it’d be interesting to fill this up with another powder after Fade Into You runs out.

FadeIntoYou4 FadeIntoYou5

FadeIntoYou6

Besides the powder itself  being of fabulous quality, I really like the packaging. Fade Into You features a refillable tube with a retractable brush, making application super easy anytime, anyplace. The packaging fits conveniently in any bag and ensures no messes or spills, something a klutz like me is always prone to. The packaging seems to be made out of a plastic-like material, which makes it a bit less luxurious than normal ILIA products but it does reduce the extra heft in a full makeup bag and reduces the need to bring a separate makeup brush. I wish the clear, retractable plastic near the brush head were made of a less flimsier material (I’m afraid mine is starting to crack slightly) but you’ll just have to be extra careful and dainty when using!

I love how Fade Into You naturally enhances my skin, reduces red spots, and never drys out my skin or makes it look cakey. The convenient and refillable packaging is long awaited for a translucent powder in the green beauty community and perfect for on-the-go touch ups. Another great release from ILIA Beauty!

FadeIntoYou1

You can also purchase Fade Into You at Content Beauty (UK), Eco Diva Beauty (US & CAN), Spirit Beauty Lounge, or Shen Beauty.

Super Skincare Duo: Elizabeth Dehn for One Love Organics Vitamin B Cleansing Oil & Vitamin D Time Release Mist Review

OLODuo2

One Love Organics is a favorite organic skincare brand of mine. I’ve been lagging on reviews about the OLO products I’ve been loving and it’s probably because I’ve been selfishly slathering my skin with OLO goodness instead of writing about them. Can you blame me? Sorry ‘bout that!

Based out of Georgia, One Love Organics was founded by Suzanne LeRoux, a lawyer and holistic health professional/enthusiast, whom I actually met at an event a few months back. {Read about it here!} I love that the brand focuses on a simple healthy skincare ritual, effective ingredients, philanthropy, and the healing power of plants. LeRoux’s “lawyerly analysis” of organic ingredients and plant-based product formulations are evident in the brand’s offerings and something I truly admire.

Not long ago, One Love Organics partnered with beauty blogger, Elizabeth Dehn to create (in my humble opinion,) a standout and super chic line of products in addition to the main OLO lineup. Elizabeth Dehn for One Love Organics (ED4OLO, for short) provides more genius OLO product formulations that are a bit more luxurious, but no less more effective than the original OLO products.

It was a special moment to meet Suzanne and Elizabeth both in person and to learn more about the OLO brand and products. {Pics and more about that event here!}

Onto the review…
These are the 2 ED4OLO products I use on a daily basis and are staples in my skincare ritual:

-Vitamin B Enzyme Cleansing Oil & Makeup Remover, $38/4.5 fl oz.OLOoil1

There is no other way I can describe this product other than it is like a delicious, tropical cocktail for your face. Containing the sweet smelling elements of papaya seed and pumpkin seed oils, this Cleansing Oil is simply a treat to clean my face with. Gentle and lightweight, the Cleansing Oil also features papain, a fruit enzyme which helps to exfoliate and soften skin while, the formula’s natural Vitamin B complex detoxifies and tones skin. I love the light texture of this oil and how supremely soft, refreshed and glowing my skin is after using it. I use this as an overall facial cleanser after I’ve worn makeup or not, because it cleanses and removes makeup thoroughly. Most of the time I prefer using a separate product to specifically remove eye makeup first.

The ultimate in multi-tasking luxury, Active Moisture Vitamin B Enzyme Cleansing Oil & Makeup Remover effortlessly lifts away impurities and makeup while restoring skin’s natural moisture and pH balance.

I don’t think I’ll ever tire of this cleansing oil, I’ve already bought backups for my stash! Fruity, light, and gentle, this oil never causes breakouts or irritation and leaves my skin feeling supple and moisturized. The packaging is also simple yet gorgeous. I love the convenience of the bottle’s pump which dispenses the right amount of product and makes for an easy, no-fuss step to my skincare routine.

TO USE: Morning and night, warm 1-2 pumps between hands and apply to dry face. Add warm water and massage into a delicate milk. Rinse clean. May also be used with a cotton square to remove makeup—no water or rinsing required. For a deeper cleanse and light exfoliation, apply cleanser then press a warm washcloth to face and let cool. Gently remove excess cleanser with washcloth. Rinse and repeat.

-Vitamin D Time Release Moisture Mist, $39/2 fl oz.OLOMist

When I received a facial using all ED4OLO products at the W3LL People event and the OLO representative finished off by spraying this Mist on my face I had 2 natural reactions: 1) WHAT IS THIS DELICIOUS ELIXIR? 2) PLEASE, PLEASE KEEP SPRAYING MY FACE!

After that experience I knew I had to have this Mist in my possession, it was that dreamy. Just like the Cleansing Oil, I love the light, fruity and floral scent of this Mist and the super refreshing effect that it leaves on my skin. Formulated with aloe vera and alpine rose extract, this product quickly nourishes and moisturizes, and is always something my dehydrated skin begs for. Alpine rose extract increases the skin’s resistance to environmental stressors and dryness, Shiitake mushroom extract soothes irritation and redness and is a rich source of Vitamin D, containing natural antibacterial properties to clean and revitalize skin.

Using a patented, time-release delivery system, this aromatic mist prolongs the delivery of actives and moisture to the skin for long-lasting hydration and unparalleled efficacy.

I love spritzing this product on my face after cleansing, to lock in moisture before adding a facial cream or oil. It’s also a great product to set makeup while it also leaves skin feeling revitalized and looking gorgeously dewy (but not dripping). My skin always feels so good after using this product and is visibly less irritated and dry after use. I only wish there was more product in each bottle!

TO USE: Shake gently. Mist cleansed face and décolleté morning and evening. Follow with serum or moisturizer. Spritz throughout the day to refresh and rehydrate skin. Also perfect as a finishing step to set makeup.
Ingredients: aloe barbadensis (aloe vera) leaf juice*, aqua (water), carthamus tinctorius (safflower) oleosomes, rhododendron ferrugineum (alpine rose) extract (and) glycerin, oryza sativa (rice) extract* (and) lentinus edodes (mushroom) extract, polyaminopropyl biguanide  indicates organic
