Fresh, High Impact Color with Au Naturale Cosmetics

I’ve been curious about Au Naturale Cosmetics not only because of the wonderful impact the brand is having on the beauty world, but also because their products translate popular mainstream beauty trends into effective, beautiful products with clean formulas.

Check out Au Naturale’s #CleanBeautyRevolution campaign, which aims for stricter legislation to monitor the cosmetics industry and protect consumers.

I’ve been on the hunt for an organic/natural long-lasting, pigmented, liquid lipstick. I was intrigued to try Au Naturale’s popular su/Stain Matte Lip Stain to see if it stacked up to what I’d been hoping for. Liquid matte lipsticks can be tricky, because most are not hydrating and can leave lips feeling extremely dull and dry. Usually that’s the trade-off for products that have lip color that lasts seemingly forever.

However, this isn’t the case with Au Naturale’s su/Stain Matte Lip Stains. The formula is substantial enough that each shade beautifully covers lips with a natural, soft matte effect. Organic ingredients like castor and jojoba seed oils, shea butter, and vitamin E provide smooth, deeply hydrating properties, never leaving behind an ounce of dryness or flakiness on the lips. In addition, the pigmentation is intense! With only one swipe, you get quite a lot of color and lip coverage. Eco Cert Pigments and Palm Done Right palm oil provide this product with powerful color payoff, while natural, clean formulation.

As for this product being long-lasting, I would say it lasts long enough for me to not worry about reapplying, yet if you’re used to mainstream products that won’t budge when eating or drinking, do not expect that. The product leaves behind a beautiful stain on the lips after a couple hours, which is something I personally love. I also enjoy that this lip stain applies silky smooth and does not dry down on the lips, thus remaining hydrating and soft for hours. For those who are used to matte lipsticks that instantly dry and set once applied, you’ll have to get used to the more liquid-nature of this product. I don’t mind it. I would definitely recommend this product, it’s clean beauty’s answer to a high-quality, pigmented liquid lipstick!

su/Stain Matte Lip Stains, L to R: Terracotta, Salsa, On Pointe

My favorite color out of the Lip Stains I tried is the coral-brick shade, Terracotta, which is perfect for all year round, but definitely gets me in the mood for warmer weather. On Pointe is touted as the perfect muted pink shade that supposedly goes well with all skintones, however I felt that it made my lips look a bit too pastel-looking, and I wear it the least. Salsa is a beautiful deep red shade with orange undertones, it is definitely provides a dramatic pop of color.

Wearing a blend of Vintage and Ivory eyeshadows, blended for a smoky look.

Another essential makeup product I always love using is cream eyeshadow. I love the easy application, natural appearance, and gentle properties of cream eye shadows. Au Naturale’s Crème de la Creme Eye Shadow come in a variety of lovely colors and boast striking pigmentation and nourishment. I love the discrete, twist-up stick packaging, which is perfect for application on-the-go and easy, daily use. You can apply directly to the eyelids, with fingers, or even with brushes. I prefer applying directly on the lids, and smudging to perfection with my fingers.

I normally gravitate towards eyeshadows in natural, brown, or blush shades. I tried out the Crème de la Creme Eye Shadows in Ivory: cream with subtle gold undertones, and Vintage: an antique grey with pink and green undertones. I loved that the shades were deeply pigmented and brought dimension to the eye without employing shimmer or sparkles (I’m not a fan of sparkle). The formula provides gentle, smooth application, while the color is buildable.

The eye shadow formula includes natural ingredients that provide long-lasting hydration and pigment, making this product non-irritating and gentle to apply. The colors don’t last all day long on my oily lids, however, I find it simple to reapply the product and no-fuss due to the convenient, portable packaging. The shades I chose to try are perfect, everyday eyeshadow colors that I love to wear alone or together. Ivory provides my lids with a brightening, barely-there-golden glow, while Vintage is great for defining the eyelid crease, and creating more dimension for the cream eyeshadow version of a smokey eye. I love traveling with these eyeshadows and use them daily!

My awesome experience with Au Naturale products might have started a bad habit! The skin-benefitting ingredients and high-quality variety of colors, have me wanting to try more products. This brand is definitely one that makes it difficult to argue that green beauty brands can’t produce, high-end, quality performing makeup products. It’s quite the contrary.
