Aptly released as the temperatures started to plummet here on the East Coast, Kahina Giving Beauty’s new Lip and Face Balm is anything but your average lip balm. Continuing with the brand’s highlighted ingredient: certified organic Moroccan argan oil sourced from Kahina’s women’s co-op in Morocco, the Lip and Face Balm also highlights some other exotic, skin-benefiting ingredients. such as immortelle, sea buckthorn, blue tansy, calendula, and carrot seed oil. Not only does the Lip and Face Balm promise to soothe and protect chapped lips, it also serves as a luxurious moisturizing salve for dry skin.
This petite lip treatment has saved my lips (and dry skin) multiple times during this arctic winter weather. I love the texture of this balm, it’s solid enough to give good slip when applying and does not leave your lips (nor fingers) feeling super sticky or greasy. This balm immediately and effortlessly moisturizes and soothes skin.
The slightly sweet, “delicate neroli-geranium scent” is just the cherry on top of this intoxicating, addicting balm. Powerhouse ingredients are packed in this mini healing product: immortelle (aids in healing and cell turnover), calendula (known for healing, soothing, calming properties), blue tansy (powerful anti-inflammatory), sea buckthorn and carrot seed oil (nourishes skin with antioxidants, tocopherols and essential fatty acids), while shea butter, coconut oil, olive oil, beeswax and mango nut butter deeply moisturizes and prevents from future moisture loss.
Though I have carried this convenient, lightweight product in my purse and use it often, I prefer reserving it for more indulgent use before I go to sleep and keeping it on my nightstand. I’m usually more of a lip balm tube kind of girl but I’ve made an exception for this exquisitely formulated product.
While I cannot say that the Lip and Face Balm truly heals my already fatally-chapped winter lips, I will note that it definitely helps to keep my lips hydrated and serves as an excellent moisturizing primer to prevent further damage. This gives my lips lasting moisture, even if my skin is already a bit rough. I also like that I can dab any excess product I use from my lips under my nose, cuticles, or on any other dry skin spots. The formula quickly moisturizes skin and leaves a lasting, soothing effect that suppresses dryness.
I don’t think I’d deem this product a necessity if you’re only looking for a daily lip balm, but it is definitely a luxurious, hydrating product that you might want to indulge in if you have money to spare. I also love that Kahina Giving Beauty products do so much good in giving back to the Berber women in Morocco, while also using ethically and sustainably sourced raw materials and recycled/recyclable packaging. $44 for 11g. available at The Detox Market, Integrity Botanicals, and Kahina Giving Beauty.

Maeve
I love a good thick lip balm! Brands like Fresh and Carmex use to be my favorites, but I want a CF and natural alternative. While my lips aren’t too dry, a thick balm is really nice to use with more pigmented products. I find that they sheer out the product and give a more ‘juicy’ appearance. Definitely interested in this lip balm!
