OSEA is a California-based skincare brand founded by a family who describe their beginnings as “the story of a long line of women inspired by the sea.” The ocean has always been a soothing, healing place for me, so finding innovative skincare products that draw upon the benefits of the sea excited me.
OSEA’s popular products feature formulations of certified organic, bioavailable seaweed blended with pure steam-distilled and cold pressed essential oils. The products are plant-based, gluten-free, and vegan—containing no animal-derived ingredients.
“Drawing inspiration from the ocean, sun, earth and atmosphere, OSEA was created with a singular intention in mind – to deliver your best skin with the highest quality ingredients.”
OSEA’s Founder and CEO, mother-daughter duo, Jenefer and Melissa Palmer are also actively involved in lobbying for safe skincare standards in the U.S. and the brand supports many sustainable and environmentally-friendly initiatives.
I have been testing a few products from OSEA and definitely understand the hype of their high-quality, ocean-inspired skincare.
Ocean Cleansing Milk: As someone with sensitive, dry skin, I’m all about creamy cleansers. This Cleansing Milk feels gentle and soothing on the skin and does not strip the skin. As the name accurately describes, it has a silky, cream consistency that is nourishing and lightweight. This cleaners gently melts away any kind of dirt or debris, and also effectively melts away makeup. I love that it is fragrance free and keeps my face extremely hydrated and supple, even after removing.
The product’s pH balanced formula removes impurities without irritation and the natural, plant-based ingredients focus on deep hydration, brightening, soothing, and softening skin, as well as protecting skin from environmental aggressors, irritation, and redness. The recycled glass bottle and pump-top make it easy to use and store, and looks beautiful. You also get a lot of product for the value too! $54, 5oz.
Atmosphere Protection Cream: Smooth, lightweight, and very hydrating, this cream is perfect for daily wear. It’s nourishing enough to wear under makeup (as a supple base) or alone, and functions nicely as a daytime and evening moisturizer. I enjoy the lightweight texture that can be built upon with heavier serums or other products for added hydration. This cream leaves behind a nice, silky, supple base that also keeps skin feeling soothed and nourished. It appears as a slightly grey-green color (the color doesn’t translate when applied to the skin) and a lovely, fresh scent.
Key natural ingredients like antioxidant-rich oils and organic seaweed help to deeply hydrate, firm, and soothe skin, reduce fine lines and wrinkles, and protect from harsh climates or sun damage. The small glass bottle and pump-top again is very appealing to the eye, portable for traveling with, and makes for easy application. A little also goes a long way, so the price and amount is worth it to me. $48, 2oz.
White Algae Mask: I really enjoy cream-based masks as opposed to dry masks, because I find them to be more gentle and hydrating for my sensitive skin, and easy to use especially when I’m feeling super lazy. This White Algae Mask utilizes key natural ingredients like algae extract, hyaluronic acid, resveratrol (derived from grapes), and white tea extract to hydrate, plump, brighten, and smooth skin.
This mask is very moisturizing and never dries out my skin nor irritates it. I sometimes feel a slight tingle from the mask, but it is never tight nor drying. The soft, creamy texture is soothing and hydrating, and is easy to apply. I enjoy how smooth and even my skin feels and appears after using this mask. This product is so nourishing and revitalizing. It’s so gentle and hydrating that it can also be used as an overnight face mask. I would definitely recommend this if especially if you have dry or sensitive skin and are looking for a regular face mask that is gentle, moisturizing, and revitalizing! Once again, the amount of product you get and the quality of ingredients for the price of this product is extremely worth it. $48, 1.7oz.
