With warmer weather and sunnier days in our future, it couldn’t be a better time to find a daily face sunscreen. I’ve had trouble finding a good, organic and natural everyday moisturizer with SPF so I’ve resorted to using a separate sunscreen and moisturizer on my face. This year, Badger released their SPF 20 Damascus Rose Tinted Face Sunscreen*, a non-comedogenic and hypoallergenic product that has broad-spectrum UVA/UVB protection with non-nano, uncoated mineral zinc oxide. The ingredients are 95% certified organic, 100% certified natural, while the formulation and packaging are also cruelty-free, reef safe, biodegradable, and planet-friendly.
Badger Balm, known for their certified organic and 100% natural body care products have also paved the way for affordable, clean, and effective sunscreen products. The SPF 20 Damascus Rose Tinted Face Sunscreen is the first tinted sunscreen offered from Badger and is an extension of the brand’s most popular face sunscreen, the Rose Face Sunscreen which was also recently reformulated this year.
I always get a bit nervous when I try out face sunscreen because so many formulas react negatively with my skin but the Rose Tinted Face Sunscreen doesn’t irritate my sensitive skin at all. In fact, I don’t mind wearing this sunscreen every day as I can apply it as a normal facial cream, underneath another facial product, or makeup. The texture is creamy yet very lightweight and does not feel like I’ve applied anything. The formula absorbs into skin quickly and is very moisturizing without being greasy or oily.
This sunscreen features damascus rose, chamomile and lavender as highlighted ingredients, which all work to soothe, refresh and revitalize delicate skin. The rose scent is delightful and pleasant, not too overpowering. If you’re not a fan of rose scents, Badger also has some other sunscreens that are unscented.
The tint looks quite pigmented out of the tube but is very sheer once blended into the skin. It adds a nice glow to the skin and seems to blur out redness, helping to even out my complexion. I think the tint also helps to reduce a white cast that is often experienced with face sunscreens. However, this formula does not have a white tint and doesn’t leave behind any annoying residue whatsoever. Can I get an aw yeahhh?!
I was surprised to find that the hint of tint in this product would match so nicely with my skin tone and I think because the tint is so sheer, it really could work with many other light to medium skin tones. I don’t know how it would work with darker skin tones but hopefully, Badger will add another shade soon.
I’m so glad I’ve found a good natural, organic daily sunscreen! I also love that the packaging is eco-friendly and easy to carry around in my makeup bag when traveling. Badger’s SPF 20 Damascus Rose Tinted Face Sunscreen is now my go-to moisturizer, SPF, and makeup base all-in-one. I highly recommend you try this product if you’ve been searching for a good, no-nonsense, organic SPF moisturizer or face sunscreen. $24.99 for 1.6 oz at Badger or at The Choosy Chick

I loved the original Badger Damascus Rose Sunscreen when I tried it a few years ago, and was super sad when I couldn’t find it anymore, thinking they had discontinued it altogether. I was relieved when I found out they were just in the process of reformulating! I haven’t tried the new version yet, or this tinted one, but your post totally gets me excited to pick some up!

I heard from so many people that they loved the original Rose Sunscreen and it was so popular I never had the chance to try it before the reformulation. You should definitely pick up the new formula or the tinted version, you’ll love it 🙂 Thanks for reading, Kira!

I love Badger! They make great products. I love the glow it gives, will add it to my wish list
Kasey
I definitely agree, Rowie! Now I’ve got to try more of Badger’s all-over body sunscreens 🙂

You just cannot beat Badger values – does it get any better? They even serve organic lunches to their staff! This cream rocks – and it is gaining popularity quickly at The Choosy Chick! Thanks for the mention – glad you love it!

I’ve tried about eight different badger sunscreen products. The Damascus rose tinted SPF 20 facial sunscreen was the first I tried and I loved it. I’m on about my third bottle and I will continue using it – it is so wonderful!
Let me tell you though, their other sunscreens are horrible. And I’m not even that picky. They are greasy, difficult to spread and leave a sticky film. They never quite absorb into the skin. Would absolutely not recommend using them on your face. Bear this in mind if you were looking to purchase any of their other sunscreens.

Thanks for the tip! I’ve used their body sunscreens once before and did not like the texture either. I know a lot of Badger sunscreens were reformulated however, so maybe they’ve improved. I was happily surprised with the formula of this facial sunscreen too! 🙂

Hello, can you tell me if this sunscreen rubs off on clothes? I wasn’t a fan of tinted sunscreens in the past because they tend to rub off on my shirts like Im wearing makeup (I’m a guy). Thanks!
Kasey
Thanks for commenting! I have not experienced any product “rub off” or transfer on my clothes when I wear this tinted sunscreen. I find that it sets on the skin very quickly. This product has also been reformulated now with a higher SPF as well. However, Badger also has a really nice non-tinted version of this sunscreen which they just re-formulated too and it’s just as good as the tinted version (if not better): http://www.badgerbalm.com/p-565-spf-25-rose-face-sunscreen.aspx
Just in case you’re not so sure about the tinted one! Hope this helps!

The new Badger SPF 25 Lotion for face and body is awesome too! Not greasy at all and spreads easily – our customers have been raving about it.
Kasey
Yes, I’ve been loving the new Face & Body SPF 25 lotion from Badger too! It is a really great product for summer. Will be reviewing it soon 🙂
