Maybe it’s the annual arrival of spring cleaning or that dreaded need to purge old clothes, but every day I anxiously look into my cluttered closet and feel overwhelmed. Sometimes I want to give away all my clothes and start anew. As a regular contributor for Ecouterre, I’m constantly following the latest in eco-fashion and design, though it’s been hard to apply everything I see and learn in the industry to my own personal habits. I’ve been trying to shopethically when it comes to fashion, donate unworn or old clothes, and revamp my wardrobe into one that reflects minimalism and quality pieces.
Last week, I gladly accepted a chance to attend the Go Green NYC 2013 symposium held at the CUNY Graduate Center courtesy of eco-fashion and sustainable design website, Ecouterre. (Thank you!) The Go Green NYC conference is an annual, nationwide conference featuring talks by experts and recognized leaders in the sustainability field with a mission to foster learning and empower attendees with greener solutions, strategies and tools. Read more about Go Green NYC here.
I attended the closing presentation called “The Future of Fashion: The Rise of a Global Movement to Design, Source & Manufacture Responsible Apparel”. I was giddy with excitement as I love fashion and design as much as I love learning about sustainable development.
Ah, the good ol’ 90s aka my childhood: awesome T.V. shows, addictive girl/boy bands, questionable fashion trends, sparkly makeup….
What better way to kick off New York Fashion Week than these fun designs inspired by popular 90s cartoon characters and the brands they’d wear for Fashion Week shows. Dreamed up by Swagger New York in collaboration with designer, Michele Moricci these pics are so spot on and super cute! Missing the 90s even more.
Totally loving all the looks but my faves are Captain Planet, Daria and Sailor Moon! Which ones are yours?
Green beauty bloggers and enthusiasts are abuzz about an upcoming event for green beauty during New York Fashion Week in September. Hosted by the botanical ingredient-based skincare line, La Bella Figura, “A Night For Green Beauty” will be a pop-up event at James Corbett Studio on September 4th, 2013. Attendees will be able to shop, mingle with leaders from the organic beauty industry and get pampered with organic beauty makeovers and tips.
Just look at the list of amazing beauty and skincare brands that will be featured below! I’m such a fangirl of all these brands but a few I’m most excited about are Kjaer Weis, One Love Organics, ILIA Beauty, Kahina Giving Beauty and Lina Hanson.
I first learned about this event from The Chalkboard Magand am beyond excited to attend. Not only will there be top Organic beauty and skincare brands to shop from (many of which I’ve been lusting to try) but I’m sure I’ll feel starstruck as some of my favorite green beauty bloggers and industry leaders will all be there!
I’ll be the one who’s wide-eyed, happy and with an armful of products…hopefully I’ll see you there!
I’ve definitely penciled this in as a “TO NOT MISS” event on my schedule! Will you be attending?
