Making Time for Some Daily Om: Om Aroma & Co. Organic Skincare

Last year, Sarita invited me to a lovely event at the West Village organic spa, Savor Spa. I failed to blog about the event, but posted some pictures on my Instagram where I met other bloggers, experienced an amazing all-natural facial, and played around with the spa’s skincare products, Om Aroma & Co. I also met Savior Spa’s founder, Angela Jia Kim, an inspiring woman and entrepreneur. 

A former professional touring pianist, Angela developed a severe reaction after using a conventional body lotion before a performance and after, self-educated herself about what was really in the skincare products she was using. She decided to create her own chemical-free and preservative-free organic skin care products made from the purest ingredients.

The skincare line, Om Aroma & Co. became so popular among customers, Angela then decided to open her own organic spa and lifestyle boutique, Savor Spa. She also runs Savor the Success, a business network and training program that empowers and connects women entrepreneurs. Talk about a serious #girlboss!

Locally produced in the Catskills of New York, Om Aroma & Co. products are formulated with certified organic ingredients, and free of parabens, formaldehyde, synthetic fragrances/dyes and chemical fillers. With lots of lovely products in their lineup, Om Aroma & Co. recently introduced the Mini Beauty Serum Trio, allowing for toteable skincare goodness and as a way to get accustomed with the brand’s best-selling organic facial serums. Beauty Serums can also be purchased separately in mini or full sizes but this Trio makes it easier to decide which serum is right for you. (Or just an excuse to have them all!)

These travel-friendly tubes each contain about 1-2 weeks worth of product and are perfect to take with you if you’re on-the-go. Each serum provides a targeted focus but all three can be used for any skincare routine, applied alone on the face or added to a facial cream for an extra skin-benefiting boost.

The Om Aroma & Co. Mini Beauty Serum Trio ($45) includes:

– Carrot Rose Glow Serum: has vitamin A and beta-carotene to nourish and rejuvinate skin. This serum deeply moisturizes, providing “undeniably soft, silky, and smooth” and can be used morning and night. Has a really lovely rose scent.

– Raspberry Protect Serum: is formulated with Red Raspberry Seeds to naturally provide broad-spectrum UV-A and UV-B protection from the sun, Omega 3 and Omega 6 fatty acids to provide natural glow and radiance, and Vitamin E to fight wrinkles and fine lines while repairing and conditioning skin. This anti-aging serum is recommended for use in the morning. Has a delicious but muted fruity scent.

– Pumpkin Seed Renew Serum: renews the skin through cellular regeneration and provides intense repair treatment with Fatty Acids and Vitamins A, C, E, Zinc. Omega 3 and Omega 6 fatty acids help reduce wrinkles and fine lines, Rosehip Seed diminishes age spots, scars, and sun spots, while meadowfoam provides deep hydration and locks in moisture. This serum is recommended for use at night. Has a sweet, slightly nutty scent.

Personally, I’ve loved using all three Mini Beauty Serums interchangeably and I find them all to be very beneficial for my dry, sensitive skin. To maintain hydrated, glowing skin I prefer using the Carrot Rose Glow during the day and the Pumpkin Seed Renew at night. I add the Raspberry Protect Serum into my routine if my skin is feeling extra dry and also if I want to add some natural SPF to my face.

While each serum adds something different, they are all deeply hydrating, fast-absorbing, and extremely nourishing. I also don’t find either of them to be overly greasy on my skin. The scents are all unique but very light, sweet and admittingly, a bit addictive.

My favorite serum of the bunch is the best-selling Pumpkin Seed Renew Serum. I’ve used many products with rosehip seed oil in it and I’m convinced it’s the one ingredient that always perfects my skin instantly. Not surprisingly, the Pumpkin Seed Renew Serum utilizes rosehip seed oil as its base. It not only leaves my skin extremely hydrated and soft, it has also helped with the texture and appearance of my skin. It has noticeably brightened the sun spots on my face. I also love the sweet, nutty scent of this serum! This serum works so nicely with my skin, I purchased the full-size version ($64, 1 oz).

Another best-selling product from Om Aroma & Co. is the Manuka Honey Masque. Known for its powerful healing and detoxifying effects, manuka honey is a high-quality natural ingredient that draws impurities from the skin while also encourages cell regeneration. Om Aroma & Co. expertly combines the gentle, detoxifying properties of manuka honey with papaya and apricot enzymes resulting in soft and brightened skin.

While a honey facial mask is not one of my favorite types of masks to apply, (the messy stickiness of honey usually puts me off) using the Manuka Honey Masque was actually quite a pleasant experience. While the heavier viscosity of honey is to be expected, the texture of this mask actually applies quite lightly and thinner than most honey-based masks I’ve tried.

Om Aroma uses UMF Manuka Honey or, manuka honey that contains a high level of methylglyoxal (MG), which is the main antibacterial component in manuka honey. The higher the concentration of MG, the stronger the antibiotic effect according to the Unique Manuka Factor rating (UMF).  Honey at or above this specific level is marketed as “UMF Manuka Honey” or “Active Manuka Honey. The Manuka Honey Masque ($64, 2oz) also has a cooling effect and soothing aromatherapeutic scent, making it extremely easy to leave this treatment on for more than the recommended 5-10 minutes. While this mask should be worn with a warm moist towel covering your face, Om Aroma. also suggests applying in the shower and allowing the steam to melt the honey into your skin before washing the mask off. This mask completely cleanses, calms and softens my skin, while also provides me with a moment of personal, introspective calm.
