Magical Zit Zapper: Osmia Organics Spot Treatment Review

osmiaspottreatment3-2

There has been a lot of blogger buzz surrounding the Colorado-based brand, Osmia Organics for their homemade soaps and natural skincare blends. Osmia products have been at the top of my “to purchase” list for a while and I was finally able to pick up some goodies during a Winter promotion. I’ve also admired the story of Osmia’s founder, Sarah Villafranco who is an ER doctor-turned-natural soap/skincare master concoctor. Read more about her and the founding of Osmia Organics here.

I was very curious to try Osmia’s popular Spot Treatment, which has been proclaimed the holy grail of natural acne treatments. Though I don’t usually have much acne regularly, there are many times when I wish I’d had a magic acne remover for those few big zits that appear out of nowhere or for when I’m trying to heal my face after a bout of skin freakout. Well, consider the Spot Treatment your personal, natural zit zapper.

Consisting of a powerful blend of essential oils, the Spot Treatment is gentle yet potent in treating relentless pimples and clearing up blemishes. The roller ball bottle makes this yellow-tinted treatment very convenient and easy to apply. Most acne treatments I use tend to overdry the skin, making it flaky and more irritated after application. Osmia’s Spot Treatment is effective in shrinking acne yet does not dry out or bother my skin at all. In fact, the combination of the herbal oils hydrates and conditions the skin while diminishing spots. Even after pimples have subsided, the Spot Treatment continues to heal the skin and prevents further spots from appearing. I’ve also found this serum works well for lightening acne scars.

The simple ingredients include essential oils proven to combat bacteria, shrink zits while hydrating and healing skin. As an additional plus, this treatment is a lovely aromatic blend pleasing to my nose, including notes of lavender, lemon and thyme. The potency and scent reminds me of a Chinese herbal pain relief treatment that my grandmother used to use and apply on me when I was younger: Tiger Balm.

I saw immediate results after only 1 day of using the Spot Treatment! I recently broke out with some large pimples, swiped some Spot Treatment on the spots before I went to bed, and woke up to most of the pimples having immediately vanished from my face. I’m not saying this is a cure-all for every pimple, but it’s an extremely potent, effective way to quickly minimize and treat acne without freaking your skin out further. Osmia recommends using this serum 3-5 times a day as needed, applying only to pimples and problem spots.

Despite the small size and high price point, $20 for 0.16oz, I will definitely be re-purchasing this product as it truly is a great natural zit zapper. I think this is an essential product for anyone especially for those times when you need a quick, effective treatment for pimples.

NIce review! The treatment is oil-based, so better using at night no?

Good question! I’ve used the treatment both at night and during the day but I don’t find that it makes my face too greasy or oily. I do prefer using it when I don’t have makeup on or before makeup. If you have large trouble spots where you want to reapply often, it might be best to apply in the evenings.
