I’d be lying if I said converting my family and friends to organic and natural skincare has been an easy task. Everyone has their misconceptions and protests but in all honesty, it’s always easier for me to convince the ladies in my life of cleaner, greener skincare habits. The men in my life, well let’s just say they’re not really into it. And maybe that’s also due to men not having a very complex skincare routine or rather, no routine at all. My mission was to find unique and clean skincare products catering towards men that my fiance might be willing to try, but it proved harder than I thought. That is, until I was introduced to the ultra-cool, simplistic, natural and organic unisex skincare brand, Ursa Major.

With warmer weather and sunnier days in our future, it couldn’t be a better time to find a daily face sunscreen. I’ve had trouble finding a good, organic and natural everyday moisturizer with SPF so I’ve resorted to using a separate sunscreen and moisturizer on my face. This year, Badger released their SPF 20 Damascus Rose Tinted Face Sunscreen*, a non-comedogenic and hypoallergenic product that has broad-spectrum UVA/UVB protection with non-nano, uncoated mineral zinc oxide. The ingredients are 95% certified organic, 100% certified natural, while the formulation and packaging are also cruelty-free, reef safe, biodegradable, and planet-friendly.
It’s been quite busy around here, hence the lag in my writing: planning my wedding, prepping to move, working a full-time day job, doing 2-3 freelance jobs on the side, and just going about regular life. As usual, I’ve got a million products I’m hoarding trying out but in particular, there have been a lot of skincare products I’ve really been enjoying lately. Brace yourself, this might be a bit long… Here’s what I’ve been testing, liking, and using regularly:
Aptly released as the temperatures started to plummet here on the East Coast, Kahina Giving Beauty’s new Lip and Face Balm is anything but your average lip balm. Continuing with the brand’s highlighted ingredient: certified organic Moroccan argan oil sourced from Kahina’s women’s co-op in Morocco, the Lip and Face Balm also highlights some other exotic, skin-benefiting ingredients. such as immortelle, sea buckthorn, blue tansy, calendula, and carrot seed oil. Not only does the Lip and Face Balm promise to soothe and protect chapped lips, it also serves as a luxurious moisturizing salve for dry skin.
There’s something to be said about simple skincare products with high-quality, no-fuss formulations. I find myself more drawn to organic and natural products without fancy promises or death-defying qualities, rather I feel as though the products I’m loving now are ones that bring me back to the basics of effective skincare. Province Apothecary is an organic skincare company based in Toronto known for their sought-after handmade products devoted to organic, wildcrafted ingredients.
Oops, I’ve been slacking on my Testing Tableposts. I haven’t done one since August but hope to get back to it. As any other product junkie, you know I’ve been trying a ton of goodies on the side. Here’s a current taste of what’s been on the testing table:
I’m finally taking a break for vacation this week (woohoo!) but Audrey from Vain Pursuits joins us today for a special guest post. (woohoo again!) Every day, we make it our goal to fix customer’s skin issues so they can finally quit the tedious trial-and-error process for good. Our company’s philosophy is all about “skincare made for you.” That’s not just some cutesy promise – we actually create unique skincare formulas for each and every customer! Nothing gets me more excited than when I discover international skincare brands with pure and natural ingredients, that work for my sensitive skin. The pain only sets in when I realize most of these amazing international products are difficult to find or just not available in the U.S. More and more, popular international brands are branching out to the States and I couldn’t have been more excited when U.K. brand,Odylique announced in October they’d launched their new web store for U.S. and Canada.
Odylique is a British skincare brand based on effective formulations containing only organic herbs, plant oils, and natural active ingredients suitable for even the most sensitive skintypes. There are no synthetic chemicals nor artificial fragrances added to Odylique products furthering the brand’s commitment to Soil Association-certified standards and also providing the very best for sensitive skin. Formerly called Essential Care, the brand was founded by a mother-daughter duo and all products are handmade locally in Suffolk, UK. With over 30 years of providing effective, beloved products in Europe, Odylique’s newest venture into North America is generating lots of buzz and even more fans across the pond.
