I recently discovered Philtre, a new online shop based in San Francisco that specializes in eco-luxe, non-toxic products that are made in the USA. Philtre (pronounced “filter”) caught my eye for its unique organic and natural skincare, beauty, and haircare brands that range from affordable to luxurious. There is also a robust selection for men, kids, and even some products for “lovin”. (Wink, wink.) Philtre even has helpful resources like an ingredient glossary, easy & informative product symbols, and personal advice so that you can shop confidently and consciously.
I had the honor of meeting Philtre’s sweet, hilarious, and fearless founder, Heidi Craig. Raised by hippie parents in California, Heidi was always influenced by her crunchy granola upbringing. She eventually had a career in marketing and publishing, as well as working with the United Nations for several years, leading her to travel all over the world. Here, Heidi shares about her unique background, her relationship with green beauty, and what sets Philtre apart from other online shops:
Credo Beauty is a brand new online green beauty store featuring an exceptional collection of beauty and skincare products from artisan brands. Through a beautiful and carefully curated storefront, Credo’s aim is to change the way consumers perceive ingredients, products and health. In addition to it’s new online space, Credo Beauty will also be opening up a brick & mortar store in San Francisco that will feature both retail and spa elements in April 2015. I love the clean, bright aspect of Credo Beauty’s online store, the great variety of brands, and the transparency provided for every brand and product offered. These “Maker Videos” really personalize the shopping experience by helping you get to know brand founders and missions better.
Shashi Batra is Credo Beauty’s president and founder as well as a veteran in the beauty and fashion industry, notably as a founding member of the Sephora USA team. Shashi created Credo with a strict standard for products— all products offered at Credo must be free of harmful toxins in the form of artificial preservatives and synthetic fragrance, they must be effective in formulation, and they must be attractive in design and packaging.

The Choosy Chick features a carefully curated catalog of well-known organic and natural skincare, hair, and beauty brandsmany enthusiasts already trust like Josh Rosebrook, Badger, Acure, Honeybee Gardens, and MUN. What really caught my eye is that the store focuses on intriguing and perhaps lesser-known brands with a special emphasis on fun and healthy products for children. It’s great to see a store that selects great overall brands for everyone in the family!
