The time has finally come for one of the biggest online green beauty retailers, Credo Beauty to finally open its doors in New York City! Hooray!
I’ve been a fan of Credo (and a devoted shopper) since the store launched online in early 2015, offering a wide variety of brands and products to the clean and healthy lifestyle scene. Shortly after, Credo opened up a brick and mortar store in its home base city of San Francisco. East Coast fans like myself were left wishing for the day when we too would be able to have a large, brick and mortar green beauty shop of our own… Well, Credo Beauty is finally here to stay in NYC!
I was honored to be invited by Credo to a special grand opening event at the shop last week. Over 20 brand founders were also present to represent only a handful of what is offered in the store. It was a lovely experience to spend time exploring the shop, meeting the Credo staff, and hearing about products straight from brand founders.
Here’s a quick recap of the event and a peek inside the store:
Located in chic, downtown Nolita on Prince Street, Credo Beauty fits in perfectly among a plethora of trendy clothing stores, restaurants and cafes. It’s a fitting location especially attracting shoppers looking for a unique beauty experience. The bright blue exterior and large windows cheeringly welcome curious passersby. Credo Beauty’s minimalistic yet warm interior is packed wall to wall with amazing products and eye-catching displays, with plenty of room to explore.
Tons of familiar green beauty and skincare favorites, as well as many new brands can be found at every corner of the store. Think of it as your favorite online shopping destination coming to life right in front of your eyes!
While at the store opening event, I was able to mingle with so many interesting founders of brands that I’ve admired. It was a pleasure to chat about healthy SPF with Tricia Timble, founder of Suntegrity (their daily SPF moisturizer/primer is amazing). Yael Alkalay of Red Flower who kindly walked me through all of her delicious smelling products, Kari Gran was as kind and beautiful in person as I imagined (and not surprising she has the prettiest Lip Whip-perfected pout ever), while Lauren Bilon of Plume (new to Credo stores) shared with me her inspiring product-creation story.
Trish Alkaitis from Dr. Alkaitis was also someone I was eager to meet, I’ve been trying out their skincare starter kit and really love the formulations and approach to science-based skincare. I even had a long conversation with Rahua’s founder, Fabian Lliguin about the amazing humanitarian work he is doing in the Amazon and my (abnormally) difficult hair. It was also exciting to finally meet with Credo Beauty’s inspiring founder, Shashi Batra, who I was pleased to find was extremely friendly and had a very tranquil demeanor. (Check out the interview I did with Shashi HERE.)
It was also fun to reunite and chat with some of my favorite brand founders like Sarah from Osmia Organics, Annie from Skin Owl, Nadine and Sandra from Nu Evolution, and Wendi from Pour Le Monde Perfumes. It was great to see these friends and their products gracing the walls!
Favorites up in the front of the store: RMS, Nu Evolution, and ILIA
Aside from a great location, inviting interior, top-notch selection of green beauty, skincare and hair products, and friendly staff, Credo Beauty NYC has an exciting schedule of upcoming in-store events you won’t want to miss. Hooray for more stores like Credo providing better access to green beauty for all!
I’m so excited to finally have a larger, one-stop shop for green beauty goods in New York especially because there are so many products I’m able to feel, sniff, and swatch in person. If you’re in the neighborhood, definitely make sure to check out this new store!
